Disney Live Action Cast for 'The Lion King'

Disney just released their Lion King live action cast and here are the nominees...

This film is going to be directed by Jon Favreau, who has been in the acting world quite awhile and has a very good filmography. This will be his 21st movie as a director and 24th as a producer, so he will hopefully be producing a great film, especially since he directed The Jungle Book live action adaptation and that was a hit.

I am not putting the whole cast down, just the big names and the best characters in The Lion King.

Donald Glover as Simba

Donald Glover, or Childish Gambino, is the star of the show. We've seen him in Community, The Martian, and Spiderman-Homecoming. Originally, Simba was voiced by Matthew Broderick. We will miss him dearly, but I think Glover can fill the shoes – hopefully he can sing!

Beyonce as Nala

Know Beyonce is probably the best choice for this role. She is the Queen after all. And now she will become Queen of the jungle. We all know she has a beautiful singing voice, and some acting roles, so this role will probably be a piece of cake for her. All hail!

James Earl Jones as Mufasa

If you aren't as stoked as I am to find out that James Earl Jones is a part of this cast again, you are wrong and need to find a corner to repent! Jones is literally the best person for this role, always is and always has been. He was even Darth Vader in Star Wars for heaven's sake! His voice is narrator worthy and we will be pleased with it again.

Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner as Pumbaa and Timon

Another good combination Disney pulled together. Seth Rogen's deep voice to be portrayed as Pumbaa and his history with comedy! It's going to be epic. Then you have Billy Eichner, who is somewhat of a newcomer to Hollywood, but he has been in Parks and Recreation, American Horror Story, and Difficult People. I think he is hilarious and has a voice that could make you laugh until you drop.

John Oliver as Zazu

This guy was also in Community and many animated TV shows. He is best known as the host of HBO's Last Week Tonight, and has voiced Vanity The Smurfs and Smurfs 2. I haven't seen much of this guy, but hopefully he can perform a good Zazu, because he is hilarious.

John Kani as Rafiki

Kani is King T'Chaka in Captain America and Black Panther. So in other words, Black Panthers dad. He has a very pristine voice so he should be a wise Rafiki character to look out for. And unfortunately, the original Rafiki Robert Guillaume, died this past October. Condolences to his family and loved ones. Kani should be able to fill his shoes, hopefully!

Eric Andre, Florence Kasumba, and Keegan Michael-Key as Azizi, Shenzi, and Kamari the hilarious hyenas we hate to love and love to hate

Now these two dudes are hilarious if you have ever seen them in their shows and movies. It will probably be a party with these two comedians in the mix. The girl, Kasumba, has been in some major movies but only in background roles including, Wonder Woman and Captain America. So, this movie will probably be her big A-List movie.

*I couldn't find a picture of all three of them :(

Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar

Now I don't know about you guys but I am a bit sad to not have Jeremy Irons reprising his role as Scar, but Ejiofor is a killer actor so I am sure he will fill the shoes. We've seen Ejiofor in 12 Years a Slave, The Martian, and Doctor Strange. He has an impressive repertoire, I look forward to see him play this role.

Alfre Woodard as Sarabi

Woodard has been in so many great shows it's hard to narrow it down but I'm going to try. She's been in 12 Years a Slave, State of Affairs, and Love & Basketball. She also has a powerful voice like most of the cast and always has a lot of prowess when she enters a room. She will definitely play a great mom to Simba.
