The next major story arc for Dragon Ball Super is only a few weeks away from its premiere, and while we've only recently seen a first glimpse at the "Universal Survival Arc," the brief teaser gives us several reasons to watch and several new characters we'll definitely want to watch out for.
New Gods of Destruction Revealed and a Mysterious Hooded Figure
So far, only two Gods of Destruction have been introduced on Dragon Ball Super, but 10 more Gods will join them when the Inter-Universal Martial Arts Tournament begins. The Gods of Destruction will also be accompanied by a Kai and an angel.
Each God of Destruction can be seen standing in assembly alongside the other Gods. However, there's one God of Destruction who's accompanied by an extra comrade, completely covered in a garb — a good indicator that whoever is under that hood has some ulterior motive for being present for the Inter-Universal Martial Arts Tournament.
As for the rest of the Gods of Destruction, despite only small glimpses of them being seen in the brief teaser, a decent look at most of the Gods is discernible as they stand atop floating pedestals in one of the stills from the teaser.
Keep in mind, the Gods of Destruction aren't the real characters we need to pay attention to, since they won't be participating in the Inter-Universal Martial Arts Tournament. Instead, it'll be the competitors they choose to participate on their behalf that you'll want to keep an eye out for. One in particular was teased in the trailer, and she'll likely set a precedent for the future of Dragon Ball.
First Female Super Saiyan Debuts on Dragon Ball Super
The image of a petite girl can be seen charging up her energy to the point that she becomes a Super Saiyan. Yes, a Super Saiyan. This will mark the first time a female Super Saiyan has appeared in the Dragon Ball anime. So far, only male Saiyans have achieved the transformation. However, after seeing this young lady reach the transformation, there'll likely be more female Super Saiyans in Dragon Ball's future.
We should also keep Gohan's daughter, Pan, in our thoughts. Pan is less than a year old and has already demonstrated Saiyan abilities, which means it'll be quite possible for Pan to transform into a Super Saiyan at some point after this. Since DragonBall GT has been written out of the continuity of the anime, the newest version of Pan could believably become a Super Saiyan in the near future.
More to the point, the presence of a female Super Saiyan is incredibly interesting to ponder over, mainly because she shares an appearance with Broly, a fan-favorite Dragon Ball character who doesn't exist within the canon of Dragon Ball Z or Dragon Ball Super.
Is This the Closest We'll Get to Broly in the Dragon Ball Super Anime?
Broly may not exist in Dragon Ball Super, but this female Saiyan shares quite a lot of similarities with Broly and might be the DB-Super equivalent of Broly since Broly can't make an appearance in this Dragon Ball universe (for the time being).
Regardless, this Saiyan woman appears to have immense power from the shear change in her anatomy after undergoing the Super Saiyan transformation. Most of the Super Saiyan transformations witnessed so far have only altered the appearance of the individual slightly, the drastic change in the newly introduced Saiyan woman is likely due to a massive increase in power level which should be interesting for obvious reasons.
