Here are some bittersweet quotes from movies everyone should see if you ever caught *the feels*

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

As time goes on, memories of love lost do fade. In this science fiction film, however, this estranged couple erases each other from their respective memories through a risky procedure. Through the process, they relive the good, the bad, and realize what they really had. A must-see for anyone who has ever loved and lost, trying to block it all out.

Best line? "What a loss to spend that much time with someone, only to find out that she's a stranger."

Moonstruck

Who would have ever thought in a million years that a rom com starring Cher and Nicholas Cage would be so charming and genuinely hilarious?

Best line? "Love don't make things nice - it ruins everything. It breaks your heart. It makes things a mess. We aren't here to make things perfect. The snowflakes are perfect. The stars are perfect. Not us. Not us! We are here to ruin ourselves and to break our hearts and love the wrong people and *die*." (Said by the relentlessly melodramatic Nicholas Cage)

(500) Days of Summer

A story of a boy meets girl...but not a love story, as the narrator instructs at the beginning of the film. One of the most relatable rom-coms I know of, which explores the question of "what are we?" and putting labels on things amidst love versus lust.

Best line? "I just... I just woke up one day and I knew...What I was never sure of with you."

Silver Linings Playbook

In all honesty, I can't tell you whether the book is better than the movie. Nonetheless, this movie makes me feel more than the normal moviegoer. It's about finding positivity in unlikely places, and learning to cope with heartbreak in all different ways. I still cry every time I watch the final scene to the movie.

Best line? "When life reaches out at a moment like this it's a sin if you don't reach back, I'm telling you its a sin if you don't reach back! It'll haunt you the rest of your days like a curse. You're facing a big challenge in your life right now at this very moment, right here. That girl loves you she really really loves you. I don't know if Nicki ever did, but she sure as shit doesn't right now. So don't fuck this up."

When Harry Met Sally

An excellent first date movie with classic lines and the most beautiful city the world has to offer (New York, duh). It confronts the timeless question--can men and women be friends without sex getting in the way?

Best line? "And I love that you are the last person I want to talk to before I go to sleep at night. And it's not because I'm lonely, and it's not because it's New Year's Eve. I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible."

Her

In a recent article about relationships and film, I explored how technology can blur the lines of dependency and relating. Her should be seen by everyone who has ever felt technology has enhanced their relationships. And ruined them.

Best line? "It's like I'm reading a book... and it's a book I deeply love. But I'm reading it slowly now. So the words are really far apart and the spaces between the words are almost infinite. I can still feel you... and the words of our story... but it's in this endless space between the words that I'm finding myself now. It's a place that's not of the physical world. It's where everything else is that I didn't even know existed. I love you so much. But this is where I am now. And this is who I am now. And I need you to let me go. As much as I want to, I can't live in your book any more."

The Great Gatsby

LOL PLEASE DON'T JUDGE ME FOR THIS ONE SO I WILL CUT TO THE CHASE WITH THE BEST LINE IN THE MF DISASTER-PIECE

Best line? "Gatsby believed in the green light, the orgastic future that year by year recedes before us. It eluded us then, but that's no matter - tomorrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther... And one fine morning - So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past."

La La Land

This movie musical explores two different types of love: the passion you feel with someone, and the passion you find in what you do. The film is hauntingly beautiful in that respect, and brings its audiences into a technicolor world.

Best line? "People love what other people are passionate about."

And finally...Annie Hall

Another excellent first date movie. Not a line goes to waste, and Woody Allen paints a beautiful portrait of New York. Iconic as ever, Annie Hall is a staple in any film buff's diet.

Best line? "A relationship, I think, is like a shark. You know? It has to constantly move forward or it dies. And I think what we got on our hands is a dead shark."
