It is R.L Stine's job to terrify kids. If you've read his short stories as a kid, you would know that's true. After having published more than 300 horror parables that has sold more than 400 million copies and translated into cartoons, short films, video games, TV anthology series, animated series and live action movies, R.L Stine has finally stepped into the world of comics.

R.L Stine

At a very recent Reddit AMA session, the author fondly known as the 'Stephen King of children's literature' typed in the following sentence - “I’m writing a series of comic books for Marvel– my first comics ever.” Leave it to the master of children's horror to tease fans with a future treat on Halloween.

A Shocker on Shock Street

Fear Street

At this point, it is all shrouded in mystery since Marvel has not yet made an official announcement. I don't know about you but I'm a huge fan of 'Fear Street' series and I would very much like to see it unravel on comic books. For all we know, he could be compiling one of his novels into a comic series or he working on something new and diabolic or maybe he's trying to revive Strange Tales. Maybe, a classic re-telling of a modern superhero in a similar vein as his previous works or maybe he's pulling off a 'What If' series about Earth-616 stuck in an endless vortex of Halloween addiction. It would be a treat if one of R.L Stine's characters to be inducted into the Marvel Universe. Going by the current fad, he could be launching a young adult story-line and filling it with Gothic, dark fantastical and supernatural sensibilities.

Here's to hoping Marvel and R.L Stine churn out an elegiac and riveting comic strip - a killer page turner.
