December is usually a time for friends and family to come together drink hot chocolate and celebrate the holiday season.

However, the House of Ideas’ greatest characters will be celebrating the holidays by welcoming back long-lost heroes and titles as 2017 comes to a close. GEEKS has the inside scope on the storylines that True Believers should keep an eye and perhaps request these stories for their stocking stuffers.

The Return of Jean Grey

The original X-Woman is back! After her departure from this plane in the conclusion of 2005’s X-Men: Phoenix Endsong, Jean Grey is back! The fiery redhead will make her reappearance for the first time in 12 years. How will the X-Men react to her return? What does Jean’s return mean for her time displaced counterpart? Find out when writer Matthew Rosenberg and iconic X-Men artist Lenill Yu present part one of Phoenix Resurrection: The Return of (Adult) Jean Grey, which is expected to go on sale December 27.

Human Torch and The Thing reunite in 'Marvel Two-In-One'

(Artwork property of Marvel Comics)

Two members of the iconic Fantastic Four reunite in the first issue of the relaunched Marvel Two-In-One. When Johnny Storm’s powers go out of control, Ben Grimm must figure out what is going on with his lifelong pal. However, their reunion may be cut short as Doctor Doom also makes his presence known as he reveals a secret that he kept from the Marvel Universe since the end of Secret Wars. Writer Chip Zdarsky and artist Jim Cheung will share that secret with fans on December 13.

'Tales of Suspense' turns 100

Marvel Comics has resurrected one of its signature titles: Tales of Suspense. The title’s first volume ran from 1959 to 1968 until Captain America took over the title in April 1968. Now, the House of Ideas has tasked the creative team of writer Matthew Rosenberg, artist Travel Foreman, and cover artist Marco Checchetto to bring the classic title to modern day. Their first story arc will focus on the loves of the late Black Widow (Natasha Romanoff) — Hawkeye and the Winter Soldier. Can these two sharpshooters try not to kill each other to uncover their mutual lover’s legacy? Readers can find out on December 20.

Voodoo loves Witch

(Cover property of Marvel Comics)

As Beast and Wonder Man’s return to the Uncanny Avengers team continues, Brother Voodoo and the Scarlet Witch’s romance begins to blossom. Is this forever love? Or will it lead to disaster? Iconic cover artist Terry Dodson will join writer Jim Zub and artist Sean Izaakse for part three of “Stars and Garters.” Uncanny Avengers issue 30 is expected to drop in stores on December 30.

Where in the world is Tony Stark?

The creative team of writer Brian Michael Bendis, artists Stefano Caselli and Alex Maleev and cover artist R.B. Silva continue to march Invincible Iron Man to its 600th issue. One of Marvel’s great legacy heroes (Riri Williams) will team up with one of Earth-616’s greatest adversaries (Doctor Doom) for the first time! Their goal: find out the real fate of Tony Stark! Will Riri and Victor von Doom be successful? Find out when issue 595 drops on December 27.

The Totally Awesome Hulk versus the Odinson

In the upcoming Marvel Studios film, Thor: Ragnarok, the Mighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth) tangled with the Incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo). One month later, the Odinson will face off against Amadeus Cho’s Totally Awesome Hulk in part three of “Return to Planet Hulk.” Who will win? Find out as writer Greg Pak and artist Greg Land present Incredible Hulk issue 711 on December 20.

The Defenders Present: "Kingpins of New York – Part Three"

(Cover property of Marvel Comics)

Black Cat, Diamondback, and Wilson Fisk face off against each other for the title of Kingpin of the New York City criminal underworld in Defenders’ eighth issue. Meanwhile, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones’ relationship with the press continues to get worse as Diamondback plans the Defenders’ destruction in part three of “Kingpins of New York.” Writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist David Marquez are scheduled to drop this issue on December 13.
