Matt Damon Gushes over the News of Bff George Clooney Expecting Twins and We're Gushing with Him

Long-time homies #GeorgeClooney and radiant #MattDamon have been a staple in each other's lives since starring in Steven Soderbergh's 2001 hit remake of Ocean's Eleven. Damon recently celebrated his 12th wedding anniversary to Luciana Barroso in December while Clooney married international law and human rights lawyer, Amal Alamuddin in 2014. Damon attended Clooney's ridiculously star-studded wedding in Italy and their friendship is truly one for the ages.

As if we needed more proof that Damon is the most perfect human being on Earth, his ability to honor the BFF code manages to make him all the more alluring.

While promoting his new film #TheGreatWall, Damon reveals just how long he knew about the happy news that Clooney and wife Amal are expecting and any advice the father-of-four has for the expecting parents.

He Almost Cried When He First Heard

Damon mentions working with Clooney "last fall" when he revealed the news. The upcoming mystery comedy film #Surburbicon, which Clooney directed and also co-wrote with the Coen Brothers, began filming in Los Angeles in October 2016 so that may have been the film they were working on when Damon found out:

"... [He] pulled me aside on set, and I mean, I almost started crying. I was so happy for him. And I was like, 'How far along is she?' and he goes, 'eight weeks,'"

The handsome actor jokingly berated his pal for not following "The 12 Week Rule", which is a practice wherein expectant mothers wait 12 weeks before announcing their pregnancy. Following Clooney's reveal, Damon stated:

"'Are you out of your mind?! Don't tell anybody else! Don't you know the 12-week rule?... Like, of course he doesn't. 'Just shut up, man.'"

Damon reveals that Clooney never even told him not to tell anyone. Clooney knew the Bourne actor would tell his wife the news who subsequently gave her congratulations to Amal. It goes without saying that announcing such personal news should be left to those involved to announce it and Damon illustrates just how important that idea is:

"The way to not let a secret go out is you don't tell anybody... It's not rocket science and we just know that's their incredibly wonderful news and it's theirs to share with the world. My wife and I talked about it with them but there wasn't anything to share with anybody else."

'They're Going To Be Awesome Parents'

He goes on to mention that he is "thrilled" for Clooney and also compliments the wickedly smaht woman he married:

"[Amal is] amazing. He hit the jackpot, just on every level. She is a remarkable woman... They're going to be awesome parents. Those kids are lucky."

Damon Believes It'll Be Tough But 'He'll Be Alright'

Damon has three daughters with wife Luciana and a stepdaughter from her previous marriage who all range from 19 to 7 years old. After mentioning that he's never had twins and joking that Clooney "has it coming," he reveals that having them "one at a time" was plenty. He follows up the sly warning with some more praise for the beautiful couple and believes the actor's work ethic will ultimately work to his advantage:

"Look, the two of them, they're just great people and they're going to be great parents. It's going to be a huge challenge, I mean, one baby cries, wakes the other up. It’s going to be on in that household... [but] he doesn't sleep a lot anyway. He'll be alright. I'm serious, he's got a hell of a work ethic."

I don't know about you but envisioning those adorable babies being coddled by George Clooney in his pajamas just gives me all kinds of warm feelings.

Julie Chen confirmed Amal's pregnancy on The Talk Thursday morning, and gave a breaking scoop that the babies are due in June! They included a #BREAKING hashtag in caps and everything so you know this was some serious business.
