Sherlock Season 4 Has NOT Been Cancelled!
Time to get facts right. Sherlock season 4 has not been cancelled!
Rumours have suddenly been flying around saying "Sherlock Season 4 has officially been cancelled by the BBC". No it has not. If Sherlock was cancelled, it would come from something official like BBC as the main example. Not this website that has popped out of nowhere.
According to The Stately Harold Mark Gatiss said this:
"I have some bad news regarding Sherlock. I know that we have promised you a fourth season time and time again, but at this point in time, this is not a prioritization that BBC can make in the near future. The team has worked hard to try and coordinate this, but unfortunately the studio has decided that it is best to let the project go. The entire cast is incredibly sorry that we won't be able to fulfil our promises but we hope that you will enjoy that Christmas special that will still air this year. That is the last you will see of Sherlock in its current form"
Mark Gatiss did not say this. I repeat, Mark Gatiss did not say this. Please do not believe this article posted online. Everything said is fake and there to wind Sherlock fans up. Season 4 of Sherlock has been planned for ages. There is no way they would cancel now.
It has been confirmed that filming for Season 4 will be happening in Spring 2016. Ready for a 2017 broadcast date. Co-creator Steven Moffat dropped some hints on what we have to look forward to earlier this year, revealing that the next season will be "dark in some ways".
"Obviously it's great fun and a Sherlock Holmes romp and all that - but there's a sense of things coming back to bite you," Moffat told press at the Bafta winners press conference in May. "It's going to be more of an emotional upheaval. Hopefully enjoyable and fun all the things Sherlock must always be. It will be tough at times." - Moffat
Sherlock returns 25th December 2015.
