When it comes to the realm of the crime thrillers, #DavidFincher is a master of the craft. The upcoming #Netflix original series Mindhunter is executive produced by Fincher and A-list talent, #CharlizeTheron.

We finally have our first sneak peek at the killer series that provides immense intrigue and blood spatter. Check it out below.

What Is Mindhunter About?

Written by playwright Joe Penhall and #Dexter showrunner Scott Buck, Mindhunter is based on the 1996 book Mind Hunter: Inside The FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit, by former special agent John Douglas and Mark Olshaker.

The series is set in 1979 and follows the inquisitive and skilled FBI Agent Bill Tench (Holt McCallany). Along with fellow serial killer investigator in the behavioral science unit, FBI agent Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff), Tench interviews serial killers to help them solve current murders.

The series boasts an awesome cast including Groff, McCallany, Anna Torv and Hannah Gross and has an impressive lineup of directors including Fincher himself, Asif Kapadia, Tobias Lindholm and Andrew Douglas.

Any Parallels To Se7en?

The trailer seems to express a similar gloomy-looking Fincher atmosphere.

The series seems to eerily feature similarities to Fincher's 1995 classic, Se7en that featured a young #BradPitt as a detective partnered with #MorganFreeman tasked with tracking down a serial killer who uses the Seven Deadly Sins as tropes in his murders. The trailer seems to express a similar gloomy-looking Fincher atmosphere and features all the violent and sexual imagery that many associate the film with.

Fincher's Relationship With Netflix

The series marks a another team up for Fincher and Netflix following their collaboration on #HouseofCards, a staple series that catapulted the streaming service's original scripted series and also stars Kevin Spacey who appeared in Se7en. Fincher beautifully directed the first two episodes and continues to be an executive producer on the series that will release its fifth season on May 30th.

Seeing Fincher tackle a concept that made him famous is something I cannot wait to binge - even though it will be about horrific murders by serial killers.

Mindhunter is set for release on Netflix in October 2017.
