Act Eighteen: Unexpected Guests

Early afternoon on the same day, Louisa sat in the parlour trying hard to focus on the book in front of her. Her mind refused to cooperate, with her thoughts drifting from the joy of knowing that her father still existed to Sebastian’s promise. Contemplating what he had in store for her made her catch her breath, and want to go and find him now.

Her contemplations were interrupted by a high-pitched squeal emanating from the front of the house. Only one person she knew could make such noise without being in pain. Elizabeth had arrived early.

Louisa opened the parlour door just a fraction, so that she could see what was happening. Sebastian was leading the overexcited Elizabeth and her maid Paula straight to her. Louisa wasn’t ready for the onslaught her ears were about to endure. Moving swiftly and quietly, she closed the parlour door and headed for the glass doors that lead into the garden. As Sebastian entered the room, he caught a glimpse of her as she headed in the direction of the greenhouses.

“Excuse me, Miss Elizabeth. I will go and let the young master know that you are here, and see if I cannot find Miss Louisa.”

He bowed and left the room as quickly as would be deemed polite. He reached Ciel’s study, knocked on the door and entered immediately. He was met with a more sullen than normal Ciel.

Before Sebastian could speak, Ciel said, “I know, I heard, what is she doing here? She wasn’t expected until tomorrow.”

“It would seem that her father deemed it a good idea for the two young ladies to spend some time together before heading for London. Miss Elizabeth said it would help the two of you find the right match for Miss Louisa.” Sebastian’s own countenance darkened as he finished the sentence.

“Damn that girl, I was hoping to speak to Louisa tonight about the more pressing reason for our trip.”

“Yes, my Lord, I believe that Miss Louisa may have some news of her own to impart on that account.”

Ciel’s expression changed to one of curiosity mixed with anger that he was hearing this from Sebastian, and not from Louisa directly. Rubbing his temples, he spat, “why must this all be so bloody frustrating.”

“Be that as it may, my Lord, it is probably best not to keep the young lady waiting.”

“I suppose not,” replied Ciel. “Find my cousin, I do not intend to suffer this alone.”

Sebastian bowed and headed for the door.

“And, Sebastian, be quick about it,” Ciel added in a tone that made it clear he was in no mood for games.

Sebastian headed for the greenhouses. He could sense Louisa’s presence easily now, and knew exactly where she would be. Louisa was standing with her back to him as he entered the glass building. He quietly leapt behind her, grabbing her gently by the throat with one hand, wrapping his other arm around her waist. He buried his face in her neck kissing it hungrily. Louisa sighed and pushed back into him.

In little more than a whisper, she asked, “what are you going to do to me?”

Moving his arm from her waist, Sebastian began to lift her skirt, he slipped his hand under the hem and stroked up the inside of her thigh. Louisa gasped as he reached between her legs and began to rub gently.

“Now, my dear, I am going to do just enough to leave you frustrated, and to give you something else to think about while you converse politely with Miss Elizabeth.”

“And tonight?”

“Tonight, I am going to spank you until you tell me to stop. Then I am going to teach you something new, and if you are very good, I will reward you afterwards.”

As he spoke his strokes quickened and Louisa moaned, pushing herself against his hand, wanting more. Sebastian smiled wickedly as her excitement grew and her moans came quicker, then without warning, he removed his hand and lowered her skirt.

Louisa let out a low growl in frustration as Sebastian spun her around to face him.

“Patience, my love.” He said with a smirk.

“I don’t want to be patient,” She growled.

“I know, and that is what makes it so delicious.”

He pulled her towards him and kissed her roughly, his tongue exploring hers. Louisa wrapped her arms around him, not wanting to let him go. Too soon, he pulled out of the kiss, took her by the arm and led her back to the manor where Ciel and Elizabeth waited.

As they entered the parlour Ciel’s scowl deepened. Louisa simply put on her most gracious smile, walked up to him, and kissed him on the cheek.

“Sorry cousin, I was taking in the splendours of the garden, and wandered further than I realised.”

Completely disarmed Ciel could do nothing but smile and nod in acknowledgement. Elizabeth, however, was less forgiving.

“You shouldn’t be wandering around outside on your own, it is not ladylike. We will never find you a suitable match if you don’t learn to behave like a lady.”

Louisa bit her lip trying to compose herself and not say what she was actually thinking. Ciel shot her a warning look and the tension in Sebastian was palpable. Louisa took a deep breath.

“You are quite right Lizzy; my rural upbringing has left me quite unprepared for life in society. I have much to learn and I’m sure you will be a wonderful teacher.”

She smiled as she spoke and completely disarmed Elizabeth, who for once was left speechless. Louisa gave Ciel a wry smile as she went to sit next to Elizabeth, who quickly regained her power of speech and began exhorting the qualities that a lady must have if she is to find a good match.

Louisa listened intently enough to answer as was required while the rest of her mind wandered back to the events in the greenhouse, and anticipated Sebastian’s promises for later. Suitably impressed by his cousin’s control, Ciel sat back and pretended to listen to the conversation while his thoughts fluctuated between jealousy and the tasks they needed to complete in London.

Sebastian had slipped out of the parlour as soon as the tension had broken. He headed for the second guest room to prepare it for Miss Elizabeth. He was so lost in thought that he didn’t notice Elizabeth’s maid trailing after time until he reached the door of the guest room. As he stopped at the door, he felt Paula’s presence.

“Ah, Paula, what can I do for you?” he purred.

Paula’s cheeks flushed and Sebastian knew exactly why she had followed him. He had paid her little attention whenever she had visited the manor with her mistress, and had certainly never shown her any affection, yet here she was full of desire, and hoping for a moment alone with him.

“I, I was wondering where I was to sleep tonight, once my mistress is settled?”

He looked at the young maid and the longing in her eyes. Even without his devotion to Louisa, she was far too delicate for him to ever consider as a suitable distraction. Feigning complete innocence of the undertones of her question he replied,

“I will arrange for you to share with Mey-Rin. That is probably the best course of action.”

Struggling to hide her disappointment Paula answered, “yes, of course, Mr Sebastian,” before taking flight away from him so that he could not see the tears welling in her eyes. Sebastian shook his head, Mey-Rin would not thank him for the visitor he had just imposed on her, but at least he would know where both maids were while he entertained Louisa that night.
