These 20 Nerdy Cospups Will Melt Your Heart

I've taken it upon myself to scour the internet for the cutest cospups I can find.

We've taken a look at Vox the Overdoge on multiple occasions and basked in his cuteness with wholehearted enthusiasm. I'm sure we all love Vox very much and would gladly give him the snuggles he absolutely deserves. That being said, he's not the only cosplaying dog out there. Indeed for as long as man had the blessed companionship of dogs, man has dressed those dogs up.

With that in mind, I've taken it upon myself to scour the internet for the cutest cospups I can find. Let it never be said that I am not a man of substance. Without further ado, here are 20 cospups in no particular order for you to enjoy.

20. Captain America - Marvel

This is Wally from @wallythewelshcorgi on Instagram and he's the hero America needs. He was on Team Cap solely because he thought Captain America had a cool Frisbee. To be honest, that's not an all that bad reason for a dog to have. He's been dressed up as a bunch of other things because why not. From Doctor Who to Superman, Wally has a very extensive wardrobe.

19. Amaterasu - Okami (Playstation 2)

This one is a bit old, but still gold. It helps that this dog already looks a lot like the lead character of the Capcom game Okami. All his owner had to do was slap on a flame wheel and some food coloring and it's off to the races. I mean that figuratively. I imagine the accessories would fall off if the dog runs too fast. In any case, Volkodav did a fantastic job and his dog looked absolutely majestic.

18. Marty McFly - Back to the Future

So many puns, so little time. Bark to the Future comes to mind, but I'm sure that's been said at least a thousand times. Barky McFly? No, that was terrible and I apologize. I don't know what I love more about this, the absolutely spot on costume or the fact that he has a tiny replica DeLorean. Probably both. Let's go with both.

17. Saiyan - Dragon Ball Z

KandKProductions needed someone trustworthy to guard their costumes for an upcoming shoot. Luckily, they had just the guard dog in mind. That guard dog being a corgi dressed as a Saiyan which actually pretty effective. Not so much in intimidation but more along the lines of being so cute that you wouldn't wish ill on the stubby legged protector. You could say that his cuteness level is over 9000. Right, I'll leave the internet right after I finish this list.

16. Stormtrooper - Star Wars

This is Penny Bark-Bark who, according to her Facebook page, is just a fun loving Doberman who loves hiking and cosplay. I can get behind that. Penny seems super stoked to be in an awesome piece of Stormtrooper armor. That's more than I can say for my dogs who just rip apart anything I try to put them in.

15. Link - The Legend of Zelda

People really love dressing up their Corgis don't they? This little guy was stomping around Phoenix Comicon. I'm guessing he was the talk of the town and everybody clamored to give him snuggles and treats while he was there. I don't really know why people would do otherwise. His name is Kiba the Cosplay Corgi and he has his own Facebook page because of course he does.

14. Chewbacca - Star Wars

This one's made the rounds, but I couldn't just leave it out. It's too adorable not to share again. Taken by Rocío Preciado of Cuije Photo, this shoot was to celebrate the 12th birthday of that happy looking dachshund in the photo. Not a bad way to celebrate a birthday I'd say.

13. The Avengers - Marvel

I am fully aware that I opened with a Captain America Corgi, but here's the rest of the Corgivengers. Omlette the Corgi teams up with a few pals and Omlette's mom for what I feel is a pretty accurate representation of Nick Fury's relationship with the Avengers.

12. Uzumaki Naruto - Naruto

That's Teddy and Jillian, aka Sidekick Cosplay, cosplaying as Haruno Sakura and Uzumaki Naruto from the ludicrously popular manga and anime series. I don't know if Teddy can do the "Naruto run" but it's probably for the best that he can't. This cosplaying duo are the perfect pair and they've done cosplay for stuff like Pokemon and Calvin and Hobbes. You should probably check out their Tumblr. Brace for cuteness.

11. Dogmeat - Fallout 4

Wexy Lex decided that some armor was in order for their dog. You never know when you might need some armor out in the big, scary world so Sarge has been set up with his very own set of Fallout 4 dog armor. I feel like the stars and stripes bandanna really brings the look together because America.

10. Inquisition Armor - Dragon Age: Inquisition

Behold Fable, Pink Justice Cosplay's loyal and trusty Mabari. Well, not an actual Mabari but close enough. Fable looks ready to bite some Orlesians in the butt or defend the land from a giant green hole in the sky. Whichever comes first, I guess. My money is on Orlesian butts. Fereldan dogs love biting Orlesian butts, I hear.

9. Slave Leia - Star Wars

Look, I'm just as surprised as you are that a K-9 version of Slave Leia is even a thing. Tumblr user rebellscumprincess seemed pretty stoked on it, though. This cosplay hits that sweet spot of both odd and pretty funny. The dog, Sophie, seems to like it so I can't really knock it. You do you, boo boo.

8. House Stark - Game of Thrones

These regal creatures are Roxy, Blue, and Bono and they're the pugs of Phillip and Sue Lauer. They love dressing their pugs up and doing different, pop culture inspired shoots that you can check out on their website Pupstar Sonoma. "Pugs of Westeros" is just one of many other themes they've done. It's kind of their pet project. Hah. Get it? Because...right moving on.

7. Digby and a Villager - Animal Crossing

Tumblr user thousandskies was babysitting a schnauzer mix named Moiji and found herself with two dogs and some free time. Naturally, she decided to dress them up in some pretty adorable Animal Crossing cosplay. So they were animals dressed as animals dressed as people. That counts as meta right? I don't know what meta means.

6. Survey Corps Member - Attack on Titan

Mio is probably one of the cutest Survey Corps members I've ever seen. Everything about this cosplay is absolutely endearing down to the 3D maneuvering gear made of leftover cardboard boxes. The little cape is also quite fetching on Mio. Good thing Titans aren't real. I don't know if Mio would fare very well.

5. Kevin Flynn - Tron

Posted by Space Ghost Zombie (whose Tumblr is no longer operational), this little guy is a mystery to me. Why was he dressed up as Kevin Flynn and put in a tiny Tron box? Who knows and, quite frankly, who cares? It's awesome either way.

4. K-9 - Doctor Who

This photo of a tiny Terrier dressed as a robotic dog is just one of many pictures that Jordan Mansfield from Getty Images shared during a doggy costume parade. Instantly recognizable to any die-hard Doctor Who fan, I'm pretty sure you aww'd at least a little when you saw this little pup.

3. Winter Soldier - Marvel

Reddit user mike_pants was lucky enough to be able to snap a shot of this dog who is both at work and at play. This Winter Soldier is also a service dog, but that doesn't mean they can't have a little bit of their own fun, too. Mixing service work and fun cosplay strikes that good balance of adorable and heart warming. You go, Winter Soldier pup. You're the real MVP.

2. Sailor Moon - Sailor Moon Franchise

This tiny treasure comes to us from Japan via Netorabo and it's one of my favorites on the list based on pure cuteness. It's a small winking Chihuahua in a miniature Sailor Moon outfit. What's not to love about that? It looks like the little pup just finished a long speech about punishing people in the name of the moon or something.

1. Mario - Super Mario Brothers

A wide dog dressed in overalls with a fake mustache on? That's a win in my book. With his Luigi in tow, I'm willing to bet good money these two got a lot of candy going house to house for Halloween. This photo was originally posted on rolecosplay and I really wish there were more because I'm all about it.

And there you have it! 20 absolutely heart warming cospups that prove that dogs really are too precious for this world, too pure. Whenever you're having a rough time or just need a quick pick me up, remember that this is a thing and that it is awesome.
