What If Carol And Morgan Aren't Safe On 'The Walking Dead'?
A rough season for both Carol and Morgan, perhaps they need a break from the drama of Wolf slaying and stick swinging...or could their drama just be getting started?
Hooray, for fans of 'Morol' (sorry, I made that up), Sunday's finale of The Walking Dead puts Carol and Morgan in pretty good stead for Season 7. Even though Carol was badly injured, when we left our dynamic duo they were being lead away to presumably meet with Ezekiel and be introduced to another colony - The Kingdom. Things didn't look quite look so good for another 11 members of the cast, who found themselves in a sticky situation at the hands of Negan and his Saviors. A rough season for both Carol and Morgan, perhaps they need a break from the drama of Wolf slaying and stick swinging...or could their drama just be getting started?
THAT scene.
The closing shot of Season 6 left us gawping at who was being bludgeoned to death by Jeffrey Dean Morgan's maniac baseball-bat slugger. The barbed wire clad bat, dubbed Lucille, may have claimed her first victim, but an awkward P.O.V. shot means it will be October before we found out who doesn't make it into the next season alive. Awwww shucks!
For weeks now we have been pawing over every little sign of who it could be and why it should be Daryl, Maggie, Glenn or any of the others. But what if it isn't any of them? Has TWD thrown the biggest curveball out there?
Only 11 victims?
A wildly out there theory (and a bit of fun), so just roll with this...
We have already seen that Negan and The Saviors are pretty much everywhere! They have been tracking the movements of Rick's group for a long time, they know where they live and they know about their dealing with the Hilltop colony. Just last week The Saviors captured Daryl, Rosita, Glenn and Michonne on their pointless revenge mission. The Saviors also caught up with Eugene and his suicidal one-man R.V. trip, before capturing the rest of Rick's break-off gang. So how about if Carol and Morgan didn't make it to The Kingdom in time?
Could the Saviors have jumped Morgan's group and added them as a late addition to Negan's game of 'Eeny, meeny, miny, moe'? We only saw Carol (in a pretty bad way), Morgan and two other men when we left them - hardly equipped to take on a Savior attack party, given the numbers we have already seen.
Secondly, if you look at the stats, Carol has notched up a fair few Savior deaths in the past few weeks. Negan's speech emphasised his anger at Rick's group killing off his men:
"Also when I sent my people to kill your people for killing my people, you killed more of my people...not cool!"
No.1 Savior slayer is Carol Peletier. Starting with Paula's 'Kill Floor' crew, Carol stepped it up a notch with Episode 15's car jacking. Her Terminus rescue mission and the Wolf attack means Carol is one of the most dangerous women out there at the moment.
If I was Negan (and thank God I am not) Carol would be front and centre for who I wanted to kiss Lucille. Season 6 has had an eye-for-an-eye theme (sorry Carl) and offing Carol would be the perfect way to deliver some swift justice. As for Morgan, well he has already backed out of his 'no-kill' rule, which as Rick Grimes knows all too well is a slippery slope to Grimestown — so does this put him in danger too? In fact, if we are going down this route, any member of Alexandria could also join the line up - even you baby Judith! It is going to be a long six months, but you can thank me for this theory when October rolls around...keep us guessing Scott M Gimple!
