A Guide to Marvel Comic Universe's Powerful Weapons

The MCU has been building up to this moment over 10 years ago. With the first ever glimpse into Thanos, we knew that the Infinity Wars weren't far behind. But 10 years is a long time and in that, we might have forgotten where these stones ended up. We have been teased with the threat of Thanos as the puppet master of all things that go bump in the MCU. Recently we have seen five out of the six stones. They have been introduced in Avengers, Thor 1 and 2,Age of Ultron, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Dr. Strange. But how much do we know about these stones? What power do they all possess? Who is guarding the stones? Infinity Wars was released in July 1991 and was written by Jim Starlin with George Perez and Ron Lim providing the artwork. George Perez was commissioned to pencil six issues in this new series. At the time, Perez was dealing with a large amount of stress steaming from a previous project working on DC's Wonder Woman series entitled War of the Gods. The large amounts of work, out a great deal of stress on the shoulders of Perez and was unable to finish Infinity Wars. Ron Lim was then assigned to finish the pencil work for the issues and there he remained the artist for the entire run of the series. The six issue story was broken into two miniseries, Infinity War and Infinity Crusade. This miniseries features many characters that make up the Marvel Universe. List of characters include:

Doctor Strange, Silver Surfer, Adam Warlock, Dax the Destroyer, Firelord, Starfox, Thanos, Death, Nebula, Captain America, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Doctor Doom, Vision, Galactus, The Hulk, Mephisto, Thunderstrike, Thor, Scarlet Witch, Cloak, Namor, Quasar, Epoch, Watcher, Eternity, Lord Choas, Master Order, Stranger, Pip the Troll, Rintrah, Nick Fury, Hawkeye, Blackwidow, Gamora, Groot, Rocket Racoon

Marvel does not have the license for the majority of these characters, but within the world that they have built, the current roster serves the story well. To build a 10-year story arc that follows the worlds most iconic set of characters, you truly do develop a relationship with these fictional characters. If it's one thing that the MCU has taught us, it's that the source material sometimes gets lost when adapting from the comics to the big screen. With a film that has over 60 characters distant to appear in the film, it's believed that Marvel will borrow some aspects of the Infinity Gauntlet and morph it into their own unique take. Collider recently caught up with Keven Feige to discuss how closely the film will follow the comic book. When asked Keven has said "[His motives] will be similar to what they were in the Infinity Gauntlet in various ways. I guess that’s all I can say about that."

There will be an entirely new set of Inhumans introduced into the MCU when the movie makes its way to the theatre. With a new set of characters, there also is the sad realization that we will loose some of the original team. With the majority of the cast fulfilling their Marvel contract after part two of the Infinity Wars saga, we realize that all good things must come to an end.

Blender has put together a great ''Where are they now'' Infinity stone recap. Here is a wonderful link that Cinemablend created as to the whereabouts of the ever so powerful Infinity Stones.
