10 Actors You've (Probably) Never Thought of to Play James Bond!

Since James Bond is going to be recast for any upcoming movies after Spectre, I thought that I'd propose 10 actors that I've never heard brought up in James Bond castings, that I think could nail the role. While James Bond isn't a very difficult role to cast, it seems that the casting has more or less become a tradition, and can define an entire generation on their movie preferences. So without further ado, let's jump right in.

1. Ioan Gruffudd

Despite being a handsome British action star, I've not once heard Gruffud's name come up in James Bond conversations. Despite having his ups and downs in his career, Gruffudd is certainly Bond material. While he may be a little older, with James Bond being recast every few years, he can at least have a few good movies in the role.

2. Jason Statham

Come on, isn't every role Statham's ever done basically an audition tape for James Bond? He plays the same character in every one of his movies, and that character is James Bond! He's the handsome spy with skills that no one else has, and he always will be. Why mess with perfection?

3. James McAvoy

Once again, a handsome action star that never comes up in the James Bond discussion. Have you seen Wanted? Well, imagine James McAvoy's James Bond to basically be a sequel to that movie. His character and attitude at the end of the movie was completely badass and Bond-worthy. He's also a natural Brit of course, so that helps.

4. Gerard Butler

While I'm not the best judge of how handsome men are (I'm a straight male to put that into context), I feel as if Butler would deliver a less suave and handsome Bond, and more of a badass grizzled spy. Yes, Butler can have his moments with the ladies, but he would appeal more to the action sense, and give less of a pretty boy feel.

5. Jude Law

No, he isn't on here because of his movie Spy. Law, a natural British man among the rest, has perfectly exemplified his skills to play Bond (James Bond) many times before. He has suave look to him, he's done great action movies such as Sherlock Holmes and Repo Men, and could have a chance to redeem his acting credibility after recent movie choices.

6. Eddie Redmayne

Let's go to the younger side of the scale. Movie executives are trying to market everything to younger audiences, and how better to do that than to cast a younger James Bond? Redmayne is exploding right now, he has the acting chops to pull off a role like this, and of course, he's actually British.

7. Kit Harington

Come on, who wouldn't want Jon Snow to be James Bond? He has the handsome look, he can do great action roles, and he's, you guessed it, really British. While he's never taken a role quite like this one before, that could be good for him as an actor. The fact that he will forever be apart of a legendary film franchise means that he could truly make his career, not that his performance in Game of Thrones was anything to overlook. The point is, he may be a different choice, but he's a good different choice.

8. Andrew Lincoln

Andrew Lincoln has all the right stuff to pull off Bond, and surprisingly I've only seen him come up in one other fan cast (I came up with him on my own, I was just making sure he wasn't an overused choice). Lincoln has great action capabilities, he's suave yet tough enough to pull off Bond, and he looks great holding a gun. Oh yeah, and he's naturally British. You didn't think I'd leave out that detail, did you?

9. Aaron Taylor-Johnson

Once again, let's try to appeal to a younger audience. Aaron Taylor-Johnson is one of the biggest rising stars in Hollywood, already being apart of three major movie franchises, and he is cut out for any role he puts his mind to. He's British, he's in perfect shape for James Bond, and he's suave enough to pull off a little bit of a younger form of the character.

10. Chris OR Liam Hemsworth

Does two Aussies make up for nine Brits? This is kind of a two for one option, but both of these men have what is required for James Bond. Chris could give us a more mature and traditional James Bond, while Liam could give us a younger and more modern feel for the character. Both men are good at giving a believable British accent, they're both in terrific shape, and I think we would all like to see either of the Hemsworths in the role.

Honorable Mentions: David Tennant

While all the Whovians would love for Tennant to be James Bond, he's just not suave enough for me. The dude is weird looking.

Tim Roth

Roth would make an amazing James Bond, but he's just simply too old. The guy is pushing 50, and he's not in the shape that guys like Hugh Jackman and Brad Pitt are in at that age.

Callan Mulvey

Mulvey would be a great James Bond, except for his level of fame. He just hasn't done enough to make a name for himself yet, or be able to show off his acting skills.

Now let's take a look at some of the actors that you've probably thought of to play the character, but they defiantly should. They're all pretty much honorable mentions.
