4 Reasons Why Nintendo Switch Will Succeed

Starting March 3rd, Nintendo gaming will never be the same.

Mid-January's Nintendo Switch Presentation will forever go down in history as a memorable moment in gaming history. Nintendo provided the public with the most significant look at their new upcoming console and the end result is quite promising.

Here's a few reasons why this new console will succeed.

Mobile/Tabletop/Home Modes

As a gamer, probably one of the biggest desires we've all had is to be able to play a good game on our TV and then have the ability to continue the game on the go via a mobile device. When the Playstation Vita came out, many saw the power of that little mobile device and thought that we'd get at least a few games that would easily port from console to mobile with a cloud based game save. Unfortunately, developers didn't see the value in doing this for the most part and the console died out. Nintendo specifically made this feature an integral part of the system's design. Portability of the games isn't for 'some' of the games, its for ALL of the games. Gamers were excited to see that they could play the new Zelda game as well as Skyrim at home as well as on the go.

8 Player Local Multiplayer

Have about 8 friends (or strangers) that all have the same game and a Nintendo Switch? Link them together and all play! I mean, we've all seen the Super Smash Brothers craze a time or two while at a comic book convention here or there. Having a console of this power out and about with the ability to do local networking without Wi-Fi is a fantastic feature that will only encourage developers to come up with games that utilize 'coop-titude'.

Free NES-SNES Games Each Month With Online Service Subscription

Nintendo is providing a pay to play online service for the Nintendo Switch (just like the other consoles are doing now) and to sweeten the pot, they've promised to provide a free NES-SNES game each month! Retro gamers will love this as long as the selected games aren't so obscure that no one will know or care about. Still, the selection is vast and there are a lot of great games that gamers will love to own... again.

Games. Games. Games.

As we all know, no system is 'great' without great games. It is known that the Switch is more powerful than the Wii U but still not as powerful as the Xbox One or the PS4. Still, a system with the capability to play Skyrim on the go can't be all that bad. In another trailer we even saw a player playing NBA2K17 on the Switch. Promising to say the least. While this last reason isn't verified yet, seeing developers like EA, Bethesda, Ubisoft, Capcom, Take Two, Square Enix, Activision, THQ, and more at least thinking of bringing games to the system could bring the likes of Madden, new Lego Games, Skylanders, Far Cry, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, and more to a more mobile platform. (Just spitballing here people...none of these are even rumors at this point).

So far the talk in the industry is that developers like the power that they see in the console (which is why they've committed to developing on it). Now, the 'wait-and-see' begins as we all scour the internet for launch day titles! In the meantime, I'm certain developers will pay very close attention to pre-order numbers for the console as we all gear up for March 3rd.
