5 Binge-Worthy Shows that Got Cancelled

Shows that Didn't Quite Make It, but We Love Them

This show has been cancelled.

So many of us have seen these words when we check to see if our favorite shows got renewed. Here's a list of wonderful shows that ended, in my opinion, far too soon.

1. 'Firefly'

When talking about cancelled television shows, it is impossible to not mention Firefly. Although FOX only gave us one season of Firefly, FOX created a movie to cap off the series, answering many questions for fans.

Creator Joss Whedon (Buffy, Dollhouse, S.H.I.E.L.D) gave us a space western show set in the year 2517. It follows a group of misfit crew members aboard the ship Serenity. Visiting alien planets, avoiding bad guys, this show was action packed with sprinkles of comedy, drama, and at times, it threw in some jump scares.

If you're a Joss Whedon fan, I highly recommend watching Firefly.

(You can find Firefly on Hulu.)

2. 'Veronica Mars'

You may recognize the lead character in this show as the one and only Kristen Bell. Veronica Mars had three seasons and its own movie, but many feel that it was cancelled too soon.

The daughter of a private investigator, Veronica learned everything she knew from him and made a career out of it. A high school and college student by day, a P.I. by night, this is packed with mystery and teen angst.

The show got cancelled after three seasons, but because of such a high demand, the creators started a kickstarter to raise $2 million dollars to make a movie, which they raised (and then some) in under 10 hours.

If you are a fan of Buffy, Miss Fisher's, and Jessica Jones, this is definitely a show for you.

(Veronica Mars can be found on Amazon Prime, iTunes, or YouTube.)

3. 'Pushing Daisies'

This fun, quirky, fantasy-filled show was cancelled after two seasons, but there still isn't anything like it.

The main character, Ned, has a special ability; he can bring things back to life with just a simple touch, and he learns to use this ability to help solve crimes. Although it sounds like just another love child of Law & Order and X-Men, the tone of this show was much lighter and much more out there.

Unfortunately, this show was also being created during the Writer's Strike, which made it suffer greatly. However, it's still a delight to watch.

If you like The Good Place, Chuck, Dead Like Me, Dr. Horrible's, then Pushing Daisies is definitely right up your alley.

(You can find Pushing Daisies on iTunes, Amazon Prime, Google Play, and YouTube.)

4. 'Lie to Me'

Lie to Me follows Doctor Cal Lightman (played by Tim Roth) as he helps the police using his ability to detect lies. No, he doesn't have a superpower, he's just very observant. Not only do you follow the Lightman solving crimes, but you also watch how his ability to be observant backfires on himself, pushing family and friends away.

Unfortunately, the one thing that the creators couldn't observe was their loss of an audience, and the show was cancelled after two seasons.

Recommended if you like: Bones, The Closer, The Mentalist, Body of Proof

(You can watch Lie to Me on Hulu, Amazon Prime, and iTunes.)

5. 'Sanctuary'

Out of all of the fantastic shows on this list, Sanctuary is my personal favorite.

This show follows a group of scientists as they try to keep the balance between the human world and aliens and critters of all kinds. Learning the ins and outs of the—you guessed it—Sanctuary, you get pulled in by the characters that are in the show as well as the fact that it has a lot of social commentary about respecting anyone who is different. After four whole seasons, this show unfortunately got cancelled. There were many petitions to bring this show back, but nothing was ever made of them.

I recommend this show if you enjoy Firefly, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Stargate, Warehouse 13.

(Sanctuary can be found on Amazon Prime, iTunes, YouTube, and Google Play.)

Shows will always get cancelled.

We are always going to have to deal with the loss of a show, and sometimes it cuts very deep. But thankfully, we have websites like Hulu, Amazon Prime, Netflix, etc. so that we can binge to our heart's desire.
