5 Christmas Movies to Watch on Christmas!

And Have Good Old Family Fun!

Every family is different, especially once it comes to Christmas. Each family has its own traditions that they do on Christmas. For example, in my family, we open presents VERY early in the morning (I'm talking 7:30-8 here people) then we watch various Christmas movies all day, eat dinner while Christmas music is playing, and then we watch more movies while we sip on hot chocolate with marshmallows in it. My favorite part is the Christmas movies because we can spend quality time as a family enjoying Christmas. So here are a few of my Christmas movies and I hope they're yours, too.

The Santa Clause Series

Okay, there is no classic Christmas movie other than the Santa Clause movie series starring Tim Allen as who? Santa Clause, of course! Santa Clause is a classic childhood movie we all love and embrace, especially for those of us who were born in the '90s when the movie came out. Also, Santa Clause is a big part of a kid's childhood growing up so this movie is perfect for children as well as adults. And then, of course, there's Santa Clause 2 and Santa Clause 3 in the series too, so there's more Christmas fun to go around. These were my favorite movies growing up and I'm pretty sure if you have little ones they will absolutely love it. I mean, who doesn't love Tim Allen as Santa Clause? Tim Allen just also brings a fresh perspective as Santa Clause and since Santa Clause is such a known figure to children, he just brings it to life so well and just makes him human like the rest of us.

Die Hard!!!

Okay, so for those of you who don't consider Die Hard a Christmas movie, you are wrong. It takes place during Christmas so therefore it is a Christmas movie. Again, if you say different, you are wrong. I mean, who doesn't love a decent-looking Bruce Willis before he started aging badly kicking some ass on Christmas with this signature catch phrase? "Yippee-kai-yay, motherfucker!" I mean, what other liner can match with awesome ass whooping, especially with a movie like Die Hard? Now, yes, it is the opposite of Christmas with the guns, stuff exploding, and of course the great ass whooping that happens in the movie, but that's what makes it so great. It's a movie that takes place during Christmas, with everything that is NOT Christmas.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas

As a child, I always looked forward to How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Whether it be the old cartoon or the movie with Jim Carey, it is a Christmas classic for all ages. For those who are not familiar, the Grinch is this ugly green creature who absolutely hates Christmas. If you want a more complete description, listen to the song. It literally describes how nasty this guy is. But anywho. This is about the Grinch, who absolutely hates Christmas. He just thinks it is annoying and has a bad attitude towards it. I mean this... thing literally goes over the top, dressing up as Santa and completely ruining Christmas. Over time, though, he does soften up and saves Christmas. So this is a great movie for kids if you want them to learn the meaning of Christmas.

Home Alone

Home Alone is one of those movies that just won't leave your mind. This movie is about a boy named Kevin who was accidentally left behind by his family during Christmas vacation. Now with that being said, studies have shown that break-ins increase around the holidays, especially Christmas, when there are valuable items in the home. Now you have two not-so-bright men who are attempting to break into the house to probably snatch up a few goodies from the house. I mean, it is a NICE house. So then Kevin sets up all of these elaborate traps that doctors have said would have killed these two guys, but hey it's a movie. Creative license is allowed here. Now, I have to give this kid props. I never would have thought of these traps as creative as I am. I couldn't do it.

Charlie Brown Christmas Special

If this TV special is not one of the things you look forward to during the Christmas season, you are wrong and need to see a psychiatrist. This is my absolute favorite thing to watch during the Christmas season. I mean, come on, who doesn't want to watch Snoopy? This special also explores the true meaning of Christmas. Now, mind you, when this came out it was 1965. Religion was still pretty significant in most American homes so there were a lot of religious tones to it. But if you want to watch something to teach your kids the true meaning of Christmas, this is what you need to watch.
