5 Disney Stars Who Moved On to the CW

Take a look at a few of the young stars that the CW procured from Mickey.

With Aly Machalka returning to TV in The CW's new show, iZombie, I can't help but realize that many of the stars of my youth have turned to older and darker roles, which I suppose is quite fitting as those are the shows that I am watching now myself. So, here's a look at a few of the young stars that the CW procured from the good old mouse ears:

Lee Thompson Young

RIP Lee Thompson Young

The late Lee Thompson Young will most likely always be remembered as the cool snowboarder from Johnny Tsunami or the TV star who moved his production to his hometown in The Famous Jett Jackson to stay grounded, but he did become one of the first to make the crossover from Disney to the CW with his guest spot on Smallville when the network was still The WB.

Jared Padalecki

The jerk you loved to hate

I don't think there was a preteen or teenage girl back in the day that would have picked him over Ryan Merriman thanks to his stint in A Ring of Endless Light (hard to imagine, I know) but he definitely redeemed himself when he became Dean in Gilmore Girls and made us want to kick some demon ass when he became Sam in Supernatural.

Danielle Panabaker

When WASN'T one of her movies on?

There was a time when you couldn't turn on the Disney channel and NOT find one of this girl's movies on. She reigned supreme in Stuck in the Suburbs, Sky High, and the puppeteer behind all of her sister's problems in Read it and Weep. She was definitely a powerhouse back in the day for Disney, and now is returning to her superhero origins by being the trusty sidekick Caitlyn Snow in The Flash.

Danielle Campbell

Sugar, spice, now not so nice

She was the sweet, innocent young girl that put a pop-star in his place in Starstruck, but now Danielle is having to hold her own against hordes of vampires, werewolves, hybrids and other witches that want to control her and her powers in CW's The Originals.

Leah Pipes

Guess they told her not to quit her day job

She played the leader of the band that every girl wanted to be a part of in Pixel Perfect, now Leah spends her time tending bar to vampires, werewolves, hybrids and witches while also being an unpaid psychiatrist to half of them and babysitting Danielle (Campbell) over on The Originals. She is definitely keeping that Disney spirit alive, however, as she married A.J. Trauth who played Twitty on Even Stevens.
