Whether you're a Marvel Cinematic or DC Extended Universe fan, you can probably all agree that watching our beloved characters hit the big screen is truly wonderful. While some of these movies have drastically different endings to what we'd expected to see, what's even better than a great ending is knowing that there was an alternate ending that would have completely changed the movie we love so much. Since we all love knowing little secrets about movies, below are five alternate endings you hopefully didn't already know about.

(The Wolverine one pictured above is one of my favorite alternate endings for the sole fact that it shows the classic costume, but that's not in the list because it's a scene that a lot of fans know about already.)

** Just a friendly note that since we're looking at endings this may have spoilers if you haven't seen a specific movie on this list, so be forewarned **

1. Blade (1998)

At the end of this classic vampire film, we watch the hero Blade slaying a vast collection of minions before the long-awaited battle with Deacon Frost. The two go head-to-head in a battle royale with Frost finally being taken down by an overdose of anti-vampire poison administered by a kick to the forehead, thanks to Blade, which was pretty badass of Wesley Snipes.

We almost had the ending that saw Deacon reach his goal of becoming the Blood God and morphing into what amounts to a swirling fountain of blood that still had his face in it. Thankfully, the CGI in the late '90s was nowhere near where it is now and we didn't have to deal with a sub-par final scene like that.

2. Blade: Trinity (2004)

Speaking of our favorite vampire slayer (Blade, not Buffy), in the third film that effectively closed the story that had been built over the last six years, we watched as Blade finally squared off against the original demon himself, Dracula. Blade and his partners Hannibal King and Abigail Whistler face off against "Drake" and his loyal few before finally blasting a bioweapon laced arrow through the first vampire. Despite the bioweapon killing every vampire around the world, Blade survives and the movie wraps up with Ryan Reynolds narrating the final moments and telling us that Blade is still out there somewhere, bent on destroying the last remnants of the vampires.

Yet, that is almost completely different from what we could have been given. In the alternate ending for Blade: Trinity, we could have seen Blade being captured by the FBI after defeating Drake. Then, just before getting autopsied, Blade would awaken and kill the guards and corner the nurse assisting with the autopsy. The film would have ended there, leaving us all guessing whether or not Drake's final words, "The thirst always wins," would have come true and if Blade would have fallen prey to his own vampiric lust for blood, in essence continuing the vampire lineage.

3. Ant-Man (2015)

After the scuffle to stop Darren Cross from selling the particle-based, size-altering technology, there was a HYDRA agent, Mitchell Carson, who escaped. Ant-Man was so focused on defeating Yellowjacket that the Hydra agent slipped away with the technology. We never had a conclusion to this story as we moved into the teaser prelude for Captain America: Civil War.

But, we almost had one final face-off with the HYDRA agent — or at least that was always Peyton Reed's intent. The two would have fought over the tech and Ant-Man would have reclaimed at least part of it, but I guess this face-off will have to wait for the sequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp.

4. Iron Man 2 (2010)

The sequel to the smash hit found Tony Stark facing a pair of villains: Ivan Vanko, who blamed Tony's father for his failure to attain glory, and Justin Hammer, a rival businessman who wanted defense contract money at any cost. The two partner up — sort of — in an attempt to steal the Iron Man technology and destroy Tony. In the movie, Vanko dies and Hammer goes to jail.

Except we almost had Pepper Potts kidnapped by Vanko himself in an attempt to draw Tony out to his death. It didn't quite go the way that Vanko anticipated as he would have been blasted to bits at the last minute.

5. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)

Cinematically speaking — well, actually on all levels — Spider-Man has gone through a crazy collection of changes over the years; some truly more bizarre than others. Spider-Man saves New York from Electro and the Green Goblin and sets up the Sinister Six film by facing off against a Paul Giamatti-driven Rhino.

But we almost saw the basic premise of Peter Parker's story altered by introducing the idea that his father, Richard Parker, was very much alive. Peter had always been an orphan, which led him to feel truly alone and made his progression from dorky science nerd to costume-wearing hero easier. Having his father return and offer the "with great power comes great responsibility" speech would have dramatically changed the trajectory of the future of the series (even though it ended with this film).
