7 Craziest 'Simpsons' Predictions

Proof That the Simpsons are Psychic

The Simpsons have predicted everything from the Trump Presidency to the Siegfried and Roy tiger attack. Here’s the proof:

1. Homer and the God Particle

The Higgs boson, often referred to as the God Particle. was discovered by scientists in 2012. However, inexplicably, in a 1998 episode of The Simpsons titled "The Wizard of Evergreen Terrace" Homer writes an equation on the chalkboard that, according to Dr. Simon Singh, reveals the mass of the Higgs boson. In The Independent he says, “It’s kind of amazing as Homer makes this prediction 14 years before it was discovered.”

2. President Trump

The Simpsons predicted the Trump presidency 16 years before it happened. In a flash-forward to Bart’s adulthood in the "Bart to the Future" episode, we see that Lisa has become president of the United States and has inherited major budget problems from her predecessor President Trump.

The writers say that in an episode that showed that America had gone completely crazy, it only seemed right that Trump would be president. It seemed like the most logical illogical decision a country would make before imploding on itself.

3. Milhouse Predicts Nobel Prize Winner

In 2016 Bengt Holmstrom won the Nobel Prize for Economics. In 2010, the Simpsons aired an episode in which Milhouse, Lisa, and Martin have a betting pool regarding the Nobel Prize. Next to the red circle, which is Martin’s pick, you can see Milhouse’s prediction, Bengt Holmstrom in Economics.

4. Olympic Gold

In an episode entitled "Boy Meets Curl," Marge and Homer join the Olympic Curling Team for the United States. In this 2010 episode, Marge and Homer win Gold for the United States with Sweden and Russia also medaling. In the 2018 winter Olympics, the United States won Gold in Curling, with Russia and Sweden taking the other two medals.

5. Seigfried & Roy Tiger Attack

In 2003, Roy Horn was attacked by his Tiger live on stage. In 1993, The Simpsons aired an episode in which ‘Gunter & Ernst,’ two performers that are clearly a spoof of the famed Siegfried & Roy, are attacked by one of their white bengal tigers.

6. 'The Simpsons' Told Us Before Snowden

In The Simpsons movie from 2007, the Simpsons become fugitives. Lisa says they should be careful what they say aloud in public. Marge tells her its not like the government is listening to everyone’s conversations.

It then cuts to a roomful of NSA agents who are listening to everyone’s conversations, including the one the Simpsons are having. A few years later, Edward Snowden leaked information that confirmed that the NSA was indeed listening to everyone’s conversations.

7. Disney Buys Fox

On December 14, 2017 Disney announced that it would buy a huge stake in Fox for a reported $52.4 billion. Pretty amazing price tag, right? What’s even more amazing is that The Simpsons predicted it in 1998 in an episode entitled "When You Dish Upon A Star.

Close Calls and Honorable Mentions

You can find lists that will swear that The Simpsons have predicted up to 100 world events throughout the years, but these people are finding connections that aren’t really there. The Simpsons has mentioned things similar to autocorrect, face-time, the Apple Watch, and the Ebola outbreak before they happened. And, in the above picture from an episode that aired in 1997, some see a reference to 9/11.

The Simpsons go to New York City in this episode. The $9 New York guide that Bart buys with the twin towers to the right of the price looks a lot like a 9/11 prediction to some. While we don’t think this can quite qualify as an actual prediction, the image is pretty eerie nonetheless.
