Another April 1st has come and gone, which means many of us had a quick heart attack when we read a piece of unbelievable news that was too good to be true.

Celebrities have been utilizing twitter for years to mark the holiday and this April Fools was no exception. A few terror-inducing reboot announcements were made as well as sequels no one asked for. But still, these pranks got a few of us good.

Here are 5 of the best.

1. Rogue 2 Announced

Star Wars: Lucasfilm Announces Rogue One Sequel - https://t.co/RTURBti9xz — Screen Rant (@screenrant) April 1, 2017

Screen Rant provided an in-depth article announcing a sequel to last year's monstrous #Disney/#Lucasfilm hit, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Felicity Jones and Diego Luna were set to (somehow) star in the sequel by reprising their roles of Jyn Erso and Cassian Andor. The full text provided from the article is hysterical and naive Star Wars fans started eagerly counting down the days until this year's Star Wars Celebration to learn more about a possible Rogue Two:

"The Rebellion continues! StarWars.com is pleased to announce that development has begun on a Rogue One sequel. The Star Wars story team isn’t ready to share exactly what they have in store or when the Rogue One sequel will arrive in theaters but fans attending Star Wars Celebration 2017 might keep their eyes peeled for an early tease! But… we can confirm that Felicity Jones and Diego Luna will reprise their roles as Jyn Erso and Cassian Andor! The untitled Rogue One sequel joins an exciting slate of new adventures in the Galaxy Far, Far Away coming to fans in the coming years. We can’t wait to share more info with you."

2. A Time-Traveling Spartacus Set To Return For Another Season

Guys, big news. After years of development, @STARZ and I would like to announce our brand new series... SPARTACUS: SWORDS THROUGH TIME. — Liam McIntyre (@Liam_J_McIntyre) April 1, 2017

The story of #Spartacus, the slave-turned-hero during the Roman Republic, aired on the Starz network from 2010-2013. Liam McIntyre tackled the role of the titular character when original star, Andy Whitfield tragically passed in 2011 following the first season. Since its finale, many of the series actors have appeared at various conventions to the delight of the show's fans.

McIntyre decided to play a cruel joke on these fans by announcing another season of Spartacus entitled Swords Through Time; a subtitle that genuinely sounds legitimate. In the tweet, he states the new season will follow Spartacus as he is transported to present-day 2017 where he faces an enemy unlike anything he has ever faced: the Illuminati.

Not cool, as one user aptly tweeted:

@Liam_J_McIntyre @STARZ this is the worst most painful april fools i have seen today dont do this to me liam — Michael Aaron Plant (@MikePlanty) April 1, 2017

3. The Phenomenal Matt Damon Set To Join BFF Ben Affleck In Justice League

Matt Damon is Darkseid in Justice League Cameo - https://t.co/mDakZb2JRK — Screen Rant (@screenrant) April 1, 2017

When Screen Rant pranks, they do it ridiculously informatively. In another installment to their April Fools festivities, #MattDamon is slated to cameo in the upcoming #JusticeLeague flick as Darkseid, a staple #Superman villain and one of the major enemies of the Justice League. Screen Rant provides a quote from producer Charles Roven on the casting who gives a sly mention on the inclusion of Damon for the anticipated blockbuster:

"… Zack [Snyder] has had his vision of what these characters can be, and you’re seeing that building with each movie. Justice League is going to, we believe, connect people to these heroes even more. Ben’s [Affleck] Batman is finding hope, but also finding newer, younger people that the audience will hopefully connect to. And then we’ll keep building on that as we go. It’s the same thinking with Darkseid, who we’ve had Matt Damon give a performance for… that even in the few scenes you get with him, there’s more going on than just a typical bad guy. You want to know his story, but that comes later."

Although it is relatively impossible to believe since it is #AprilFools, one user managed to accurately sum up the thoughts of many fans in a short and sweet tweet:

@screenrant that's a long ass article for an aprils fools joke— Kevin Smith fan (@dscoops13) April 1, 2017

4. PM Justin Trudeau Challenges Matthew Perry To A Rematch

I've been giving it some thought, and you know what, who hasn't wanted to punch Chandler? How about a rematch @MatthewPerry?— Justin Trudeau (@JustinTrudeau) April 1, 2017

For those wondering why the lovely Canadian Prime Minister is challenging Chandler Bing to a boxing match, Matthew Perry (who grew up in Ottawa, Canada) recently revealed to #JimmyKimmel that he and a buddy beat up Trudeau in the fifth grade. Besides a young Trudeau being out manned, Perry jokes that this beat down actually contributed to his rise in the political game:

"I think it was instrumental in [Trudeau] going to such great heights and becoming the prime minister. I think he said, ‘I’m going to rise above this, and I’m going to become prime minister."

5. Paul Feig Trolls With A Back To The Future Reboot

It's OFFICIAL! I'm rebooting Back to the Future with an amazing all-female cast! #MarieMcFly #BTTF18! Thanks, Bob Z., for believing in me.— Paul Feig (@paulfeig) April 1, 2017

The director of last year's controversial #Ghostbusters reboot, #PaulFeig tweeted a surprising announcement that caused many to do a sudden double take. Taking his cue for this joke from the controversy surrounding the casting of Ghostbusters (2016), Feig decided to troll the trolls by declaring he would tackle a reboot of one of the most beloved 80s films of all time, #BackToTheFuture with an all-female cast.

He thanks "Bob Z" for believing in him, referring to original director Robert Zemeckis who once stated a remake to the franchise would be made "over his dead body."

Twitter users expressed their appreciation for the joke and immense disbelief in the news and here are some of the best reactions:

@paulfeig And twitter right now...— Charly (@Charly_R_Yamin) April 1, 2017
@paulfeig At least you didn't joke about a Ghostbusters (2016) sequel That would've made me sad hahahah— marti (@blackeyedmarti) April 1, 2017
@paulfeig Is this a cruel joke?— Milana Vayntrub (@MintMilana) April 1, 2017

The prospect of #KateMcKinnon portraying Doc Brown arose and that, well, actually doesn't sound like a bad idea.

@paulfeig So long as Kate McKinnon gets to play Doc Brown.— Jason Carter Glass (@FlagtopJasonCG) April 1, 2017
@paulfeig I know it's an April Fool but hot DAMN how good would Kate McKinnon be as 'Doc' Emma Brown?!— Carys Williams (@carys_williams) April 1, 2017
