I typically don't over analyze trailers or allow them to get me into a frenzy, but if you haven't yet seen the Thor: Ragnarok trailer, check it out and see why I am so excited!

I don't want to dive too much into all the ways this film could go, based on all that was shown here (as I'm sure others will theorize and guess until November 3rd). I'd like to give a snapshot of all the characters we get see, and maybe ones you missed at first glance, in what looks like will be the best Thor film to date.

Thor

If you've been keeping up with the Marvel Cinematic Universe at all, you know our title character. We first see the god of thunder as he is lowered by chain into what I can only assume to be Hela's realm, Hel. It seems as though Thor will be getting himself shackled a few times during this film.

Hela

Getting our first good look at Hela, we see two seemingly different iterations of her in a more "normal" looking version along with a more comic-like version. I'm interested to see the direction they go with this character, due to the fact that she is Loki's daughter is the comics. Some think she will be putting a face to Thanos' love interest, Death, while others believe she may be taking on some of Amora the Enchantress' comic role; whatever the case may be, she is obviously bringing the impending Ragnarok to Asgard.

Valkyrie

Brunnhilde: Asgardian mercenary?! This is a side of this character that was surprising to see after knowing her for so long as a hero (most notably, The Defenders). It's also fun to point out that we get our first look of the strongest of all Valkyrior's winged horse, Aragorn, and her enchanted sword, Dragonfang. All exciting additions to the MCU (which also have ties to Black Knight... but I digress)!

The Grandmaster

The Grandmaster is a character that spends all of his time playing games with others in search of the greatest amusement, which explains why we see Thor's battle at the end of this trailer. I imagine this is fairly early in the film, considering Mark Ruffalo called this movie “an intergalactic buddy road movie with Banner and Thor.” The Grandmaster also consider The Collector (from Guardians of the Galaxy) to be like a brother to him, as they are both known as some of the oldest beings in the universe. The Grandmaster even once challenged Death itself to a game in order to resurrect this fallen "brother". Might we be seeing some version of this coming to the big screen?

Heimdall

You only see him for a split second as he cuts through another being, but it's curious how different Heimdall looks and how this may even tie into Thor's vision from The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Skurge the Executioner

This small snapshot actually tells us much of this character and the plot. Without getting into too much detail, this could very well depict Skurge's most glorious comic moment when he ally's himself with Thor, and other heroes of Valhalla, on a mission to free souls that had been taken to Hel after being stolen by Hela.

Loki

My biggest question: what is Loki's role in all of this? We see him in various places throughout the film, but is he fighting alongside Asgard, Hela, The Grandmaster, or (perhaps more likely) only looking out for himself? The shot seen below, despite also having the ability to be dissected at much further length, is one I found most interesting in the context of Loki:

Hulk

And, of course, the cherry on top, our long awaited Planet Hulk-esque gladiator scene! Well, maybe not quite like that storyline, but it's a glamorous sight to see! This whole ending scene from the trailer has got me peeing in my pants!

Others?

Perhaps most interesting is the notable absence of other characters said to have a role in the film (according to IMDb) such as The Warriors Three, Sif, Odin, and Doctor Strange. I suppose we only have to wait until November or until the next trailer teases us again.
