A fitting conclusion to an emotional saga

Endgame, a movie that Marvel fans have been waiting for since the inception of the Marvel Cinematic Universe on the release of Marvel's Iron Man, isn't any other passable film with a generally entertaining storyline and mediocre acting. This is an event, an event of mass proportions that we as human beings have been waiting for, for the majority of our lives, and I can safely say that in its massive 3-hour runtime, it does not disappoint.

I believe it was legendary film critic Roger Ebert that said, "A movie isn't good or bad because of its content, but how it handles its content," and that's exactly how I would describe Endgame. The direction and the handling of the content it has displayed is flawless and strikes a chord with anyone who sees it. I'm not saying that the content was bad; it was definitely one of the better storylines in the history of film. I just found the amount of time and importance a few characters were given wasn't fully satisfying, but the characters it does give its time to it portrays beautifully.

Endgame doesn't let go of it's grip, ever. The film keeps your attention because every moment is new and surprising. Every moment in the movie is unexpected and keeps your emotions in check. It's a complete rollercoaster ride of highs and lows, of ups and downs. The film does an excellent job of never letting its guard down. It doesn't turn boring for even one second and keeps your eyes glued to the screen throughout. It's a truly beautiful thing. I had the unfortunate experience of having a major part of the movie spoiled, but the thing is—even though I knew that particular part would happen—when it finally did arrive it didn't feel like it was spoiled, I felt as though I were seeing it for the first time. And that's the thing, if a movie can make me emotional when I know what happens, you know for a fact that it is truly great.

Another really great thing that Endgame does is just be its own movie and not a simple continuation of last year's Avengers: Infinity War. It complements the events of Infinity War, but still has elements drastically different from Infinity War. It is its own story and isn't dependent on anything else except itself, and I personally really love that about it.

Endgame, at least in my opinion, had possibly the best acting and direction in the history of the MCU. The actors understand the magnitude of the movie, they understand their characters, they understand how they can make themselves stand out, and the directors do an excellent job of capturing that to the best of their abilities. Jeremy Renner manages to bring out the turmoil and devastation he is in, Robert Downey Jr. manages to show the best in Tony Stark, Chris Hemsworth draws a fine line between humour and loss, and Scarlett Johannson shows the vulnerability of Black Widow. All the performances were simply mind-blowing.

The movie had very few flaws. I really enjoyed it for what it was and the mistakes I'm about to mention didn't even really get on my nerves or destroy the emotion packed into the movie. I just felt that Captain Marvel wasn't given the role of the most powerful superhero in the MCU that she was made out to get and the new "Professor Hulk" wasn't really fleshed out and given his importance except in a few moments. The story really seemed to be carried by a few characters, and not all of them. But their reasons are valid; in a certain amount of time, with a roster of innumerable characters, you can only really appreciate a few of them—and what they do with the above mentioned characters is beyond commendable.

I'll just say that this movie is an absolute cinematic masterpiece. Its beauty and spectacle is unparalleled, and the feeling you get being a part of something bigger than yourself knows no bounds. It's absolutely beautiful, and it deserves much more than it gets. I very sincerely hope that you feel the way I did and the way the entire world felt while watching this absolutely beautiful movie.

We love you 3,000. (People who have seen the movie will get it.)
