Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. wasn't an action packed premiere like we expected it to be, but it was a good change of pace from all the running around and covert ops. And now that everything is out in the open, S.H.I.E.L.D. can focus on taking the Watchdogs down, which just so happened to be a main focus of last night's episode.

Brief Recap Of Episode 9 "Broken Promises"

In last night's episode of #AgentsOfSHIELD, S.H.I.E.L.D. director Mace's visit to Senator Nadeer took a surprising turn when he uncovered Nadeer's affiliation with the Watchdogs. Accompanying Agent Daisy Johnson spotted Watchdog paraphernalia on one of Senator Nadeer's guards and made the apparel known to Mace.

After Nadeer was exposed to have ties with the Watchdogs, a gunshot could be heard echoing from the back of Nadeer's home, which was followed by Mace and Daisy investigating. Their purpose in visiting Senator Nadeer was to liberate Vijay Nadeer, who recently turned into an Inhuman.

When Mace and Daisy finally find Vijay in the Nadeer home, it turns out the gunshot heard earlier was of a member of the Watchdogs attempting to execute Vijay. Though, Vijay's Inhuman abilities manifested just in time to save him from the Watchdogs assault on him.

Senator Nadeer had been holding her brother, Vijay captive since freeing him from the Terrigenesis cocoon. She intended to have Vijay killed by the Watchdogs, due to her intense hatred for Inhumans but her plans didn't work out that way. Senator Nadeer wound up leaving her home with Vijay alive.

Senator Nadeer Leaves Her Brother for Dead

The Nadeers left the residence in a helicopter together but while on the helicopter, Senator Nadeer shot Vijay at point blank range. Vijay appeared to die as he took a bullet to the stomach but that wouldn't be the last we'd see of Vijay in "Broken Promises".

In the final moments of the episode when Vijay's body is seen being dumped into the ocean, his lifeless corpse arrives at the bottom, only to form another Terrigenesis cocoon. You may be asking how Vijay could go through Terrigenesis again and that's because he's going through another transformation called Secondary Terrigenesis.

On Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., we've only bore witness to individuals going through the average Terrigenesis transformation. Vijay Nadeer was the first instance of an individual being stuck in a prolonged Terrigenesis cocoon so seeing him go through Secondary Terrigensis shouldn't be all that surprising. What's of more interest here is what will become of Vijay when he's released from this cocoon.

What Will Happen to Vijay When He's Released from the Secondary Terrigenesis?

Vijay has already shown that some of his abilities manifested after hatching from his first Terrigenesis cocoon so when he's released from his current cocoon, he'll likely manifest even more abilities. However, there's a good possibility that Secondary Terrigenesis will negatively affect Vijay, turning him into an Inhuman monster.

In Marvel comics, the lore behind the #Inhumans indicates that some Inhumans who attempted to go through Secondary Terrigenesis on purpose, wound up becoming hideous monsters.

On the other side of that, some well known Inhumans have gone through Secondary Terrigenesis without becoming monsters. Though, the process of Secondary Terrigenesis has been known to cause overt features to manifest, resulting in minor traits becoming visibly present over most of the body. Gorgon is a perfect example of an Inhuman successfully going through #SecondaryTerrigenesis.

Known Inhuman, Gorgon Has Gone Through Secondary Terrigenesis

Gorgon initially gained a bestial appearance from going through the first Terrigenesis transformation but his appearance mutated further upon going through Secondary Terrigenesis.

With that in mind, now that Vijay is going through Secondary Terrigenesis, it'll be interesting to see what kind of transformation he goes through. Will it see him become an even stronger Inhuman or an Inhuman unsure of his existence, similar to Lash? Anything is possible now that Secondary Terrigenesis has been established on Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. but herein lies an even more important question, which other Inhuman will go through Secondary Terrigenesis next?

There's not too many examples of Inhumans successfully going through Secondary Terrigenesis in the comics but if this secondary transformation were to become commonplace on Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. then a long standing Inhuman like Daisy "Quake" Johnson could wind up going through Secondary Terrigenesis herself. Although, it doesn't seem plausible when Daisy's comicbook counterpart has never gone through the secondary transformation but that doesn't mean Daisy's character can't be different on Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Will Secondary Terrigenesis Become Commonplace On Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.?

If Secondary Terrigenesis does become a focus on Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. then we could reasonably see well known Inhumans like Quake and Yo-Yo going through Secondary Terrigenesis but the results are unpredictable at the moment.

Any individual going through the process will probably be negatively affected so we shouldn't expect any Inhumans like Daisy or Yo-Yo to go through Secondary Terrigenesis unless they're ultimately being killed off the series - which is highly unlikely to place. Daisy being a staple of Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Yo-Yo just receiving her own web-based series makes the prospect of either of them being killed off unlikely.
