Alicia Vikander Is Lara Croft In Tomb Raider Reboot!
Alicia Vikander Has Signed Up To Play Lara Croft In The New Tomb Raider Film!
With Angelina Jolie being Lara Croft for the first two adaptations of Tomb Raider, Alicia Vikander has followed in her footsteps to play the main role as Lara Croft. Rumours for this sequel have been flying around for years now with a load of Hollywood actresses all rumoured to play the archaeologist-adventurer. Jolie starred as the action heroine in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, and its sequel, Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life.
Alicia won an Oscar for 'best supporting actress' for her fantastic performance in the film 'The Danish Girl'. She had accepted the role of Lara Croft shortly after receiving the Oscar.
Daisy Ridley, Emilia Clarke, Cara Delevigne and Gemma Arterton were all rumoured to take on the lead role in the film. Croft first flew onto our screens a decade ago which is when Tomb Raider was first officially released on PlayStation and PC. Since then more than 45 million games have been purchased all around the world. Lara Croft is probably one of the most familiar faces that are seen in the gaming world with her iconic brown pony tail, turquoise tank top and dual pistols.
Tomb Raider is all based and inspired by 'Indiana Jones'. The game was officially rebooted by 'Square Enix' game company in 2013. This was Lara Croft's first ever adventure as an archaeology student, and its follow-up Rise Of The Tomb Raider.
MGM and Warner Bros. are both co-producing this film which is set to hit screens in 2017, with Graham King producing the film.
