All 3 Fallen Movies RANKED From Worst to Best!

Don't even mention 'White House Down'...

Before I even start this article, I just want to clear this up: I am not a huge fan of this series in general. I think they're B-grade action movies and even though I love hard-R throwback action thrillers, I think this series wastes its potential on stories that are either familiar or forgettable.

However, given that Angel Has Fallen just hit theaters, I have decided to give you my ranking of the Fallen trilogy. Here we go.

3. 'London Has Fallen' – 6/10 (C)

This was a sequel that attempted to step it up from the original by increasing the scale but not the quality. It has the entire city of London taken over by terrorists, which is a bit unrealistic, and it also loses the claustrophobic nature of the first film.

I liked how this film had Banning and Asher as a team going through the streets of London, and I liked their chemistry. However, this movie's story is pretty forgettable, as are most of the action sequences. And the villains of this movie are just more "scary foreigners" that aren't given a memorable motivation for their actions.

Now, the highlight of this movie is a shootout that takes place in one long take but at the end of the day, this is a movie that most will forget just days after watching since it doesn't distinguish itself from other action movies.

2. 'Angel Has Fallen' – 7/10 (C+)

This movie was a bit of a step up from London Has Fallen, but the problem with this movie is that it's very derivative of The Fugitive; it's just been given a government twist.

I thought the action sequences were pretty fun to watch and Nick Nolte was a nice addition to the series. But at the same time, they weren't particularly memorable setpieces and I thought the story was pretty predictable.

All of the twists and turns in this movie were easy to see coming and this movie seems to rely more on action sequences than on any intelligent ideas, but this movie is pretty much neck-and-neck with the first movie in terms of its quality in my opinion.

1. 'Olympus Has Fallen' – 7/10 (C+)

And just a tiny bit above Angel Has Fallen, we have the movie that started it off. While this movie is pretty unrealistic at times and leaves a bad taste in the mouths of Asian-Americans like me, it has some entertaining scenes and works well as a claustrophobic thriller.

This movie is basically Die Hard in the White House, with scenes that feel very Die Hard-esque. However, it's still entertaining enough to watch as an okay throwback action thriller that knows what it is. The fights are well-choreographed and fun to watch as well.

Gerard Butler gives a good performance and his American accent was so good I didn't know he was Scottish till I looked it up. There are scenes that have a lot of tension in them, but the movie doesn't exactly have a lot of smart ideas to play around with, despite being pretty watchable.

That's my ranking of the Fallen series, and once again, my feelings on this franchise aren't too strong. I don't love them or hate them; I just consider them to be movies that exist and I acknowledge them for what they're trying to be, but they just don't reach their full potential for me.

And anyways, if you want to tell me your thoughts on this trilogy or share your ranking, you can find me on Twitter. I'm @TheJonathanSim. Thank you so much for reading.
