All 8 Spider-Man Movies RANKED!

Spider-Man, Spider-Man, does whatever a spider can!

One of the most famous Marvel superheroes is Spider-Man. We all know the classic origin story of the teenager who gets bitten by a radioactive spider and transforms into the web-shooting, wall-climbing, wise-cracking hero we all know and love.

And there have been a ton of Spider-Man movies in the past, so I decided to rank them from the worst to the best. This list will include Sam Raimi's trilogy, Marc Webb's movies, the MCU movies, and Into the Spider-Verse. So here we go.

8. 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' – 5/10 (D+)

Without a doubt, the weakest Spider-Man movie is The Amazing Spider-Man 2. This is a movie that seemed to be trying so hard to set up all these sequels and spin-offs that it forgot that it needed an actual story to be entertaining.

Though it has good scenes and chemistry between Garfield and Stone, the movie's plot lacks any focus, it has too many villains and subplots that it's trying to keep track of, and it doesn't really make us care about them, and it is weakened even more by below-average performances from Foxx and DeHaan.

7. 'Spider-Man 3' – 6/10 (C-)

A lot of the problems that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 had are also prevalent in Spider-Man 3, as this is also a movie heavily affected by studio interference. It has so many villains and subplots happening at the same time that it forgets to have one clear, interesting story.

Maguire and Grace give laughable performances in this movie, and this movie has so much focus on love triangles that it feels more like a romance drama than a Spider-Man movie. There are so many horribly written scenes and ideas that it made me laugh so hard at its sheer incompetence.

There's also THIS:

The only reason this movie is higher than TASM 2 is because this movie was so bad it was good, while TASM 2 was just plain bad.

6. 'The Amazing Spider-Man' – 6/10 (C)

This movie was passable as another Spider-Man origin story. It has some good moments and well-written scenes, but it's a bit slow-paced and it takes a while for Spider-Man to actually have a real confrontation with the film's main villain.

I also thought the villain was very weak and could have been given a lot more backstory and motivation for his actions. This movie tends to forget about certain storylines, and I also felt like this movie only worked to show us the origin story we already know, but not give it its own distinct voice and new ideas.

5. 'Spider-Man: Far From Home' – 8/10 (B)

Here, we have a large leap in quality from the previous film. Far From Home is a movie that works very well as a Spider-Man movie, with a very interesting, unpredictable story and a lot of really well-constructed scenes while also being a high school comedy with Peter and his classmates.

Jake Gyllenhaal gives a fantastic performance as Mysterio and the writers do a great job of integrating this film into the MCU and connecting this movie to other movies in the Marvel universe. However, this movie falls a bit short because Spider-Man doesn't make many quips and it fails to take the story and character in any new, interesting directions.

4. 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' – 8/10 (B)

This movie gave us a perfect incarnation of Spider-Man, giving us a lot of quips and a true look at what it would be like to be Peter Parker swinging around Queens, beating bad guys, giving directions to civilians, and also making the mistakes a teenager would make.

It feels very grounded and small-scale as a high school comedy, and we see him go through a lot to learn about himself, with some mentoring from Tony Stark, and I loved his relationship with the villain and how everything plays out with the story and the characters.

3. 'Spider-Man' – 8/10 (B+)

I really liked this movie. It was our first look at a Spider-Man origin story and it was one of our first glimpses into the modern-day superhero era we are currently a part of. The origin story is beautifully told and gives us a lot of really great scenes with all our characters.

We have some nice action scenes and a great villain, along with our romance between Peter and MJ. This movie does have some dated CGI and a slightly weak performance from Maguire, but still, this has some really great scenes and ideas, and was a well-told origin story.

2. 'Spider-Man 2' – 9/10 (A-)

This is a really great superhero movie. It improved off of the original by giving us more of the characters and the relationships between Peter and his other characters, developing and building off of what we had already seen.

I thought Doctor Ock was a very strong villain who was very powerful and interesting to watch, and the path this film takes with the story and the central character of Spider-Man was risky, but it paid off. The train sequence is considered by many, including me, to be one of the best action sequences ever seen in a superhero movie.

1. 'Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse' – 9/10 (A)

Without a doubt, this is one of the greatest superhero films ever put on screen. It's a very uniquely animated film that puts its own unique twist and sense of humor to the Spider-Man origin story, now focusing on Miles Morales instead of Peter Parker, and it worked out great.

Miles is a character that we end up truly rooting for as the film progresses because he needs to find himself and learn how to be Spider-Man. It's self-referential, fun, and an entertaining watch from start to finish, and the idea of multiverses is played with very well in this movie.

And that's it!
