'Arq', a Netflix Original Movie Starring 'The Flash's' Robbie Amell, is 'Groundhog Day' On Steroids
In less than two minutes, you'll have flashbacks to Groundhog Day.
Netflix just dropped the trailer for Arq, a post-apocalyptic thriller, that will debut on September 16, 2016, and in less than two minutes, you'll have flashbacks to Groundhog Day, only in this instance, it doesn't look like we'll be seeing much comedy.
Viewers will recognize star Robbie Amell from The Flash where he portrayed one half of Firestorm and Caitlin Snow's husband. And with Robbie's upcoming film, Code8, he's producing with his cousin, Stephen Amell (Arrow) being science fiction, it seems like Robbie has found his niche in movies and television.
In Arq, Robbie Amell's character has created an energy technology to end world wars. When the technology goes wrong, it traps Amell and co-star Rachael Taylor (Trish Walker on Jessica Jones) in a time loop where they must consistently fight home invaders in an effort to save their lives. With a dark, edgy feel, Arq could hit the right notes with science fiction fans. As a bonus, it's written and directed by Tony Elliott (Orphan Black), and with that caliber of writing, Arq might just be Netflix's next big hit.
