This post contains spoilers from Arrow Season 5!

Before Season 5 began, Arrow's #StephenAmell said the show would be meaner this year, and he couldn't have been closer to the truth. #Prometheus has turned Team Arrow upside down, both physically and psychologically. And he effectively neutered Oliver before taking him captive this past week, with more than a little help from #TaliaalGhul.

All season long Oliver has suffered, knowing he's putting his friends and family in harm's way. He's been at Prometheus' mercy even when he didn't realize he was. But if there is one thing we know about #OliverQueen, it's that he doesn't stay down very long, and when he comes back, payback is always a bitch.

The Oliver Queen from Season 1 did what he had to do to get the job done. Whatever was in his way got eliminated. He didn't back down, and he pulled no punches. And killing was a means to an end, with Oliver being directly responsible for the deaths of 55 people.

Oliver's kills have greatly diminished since he vowed to honor Tommy Merlyn's memory, and, unfortunately, the criminals of Star City don't appreciate his mercy, especially Prometheus.

The past two seasons have proven that capturing the criminals doesn't work, at least not in Star City. Most recently, #Cupid, China White and Liza Warner escaped a prison bus and wreaked havoc on the city, and they aren't anywhere near as powerful as #AdrianChase.

If left alive, even if imprisoned, Prometheus will still have an emotional hold over Oliver, and there will always be the possibility he, too, could escape and cause even more damage. The only way for Oliver to make sure Prometheus never returns is to kill him, thus cementing Oliver's Season 1 choice to eliminate the criminals.
