'Arrow': Will the Writers Redeem Team B or Expect Fans to Forget the Betrayal?

The second string team hasn't earned much respect from the fans.

When Arrow ended its sixth season in May, Green Arrow was working alongside Mr. Terrific, Black Canary, and Wild Dog once again in an effort to bring down Ricardo Diaz. Viewers didn't know Oliver had brokered a deal with the FBI for help, and while the fighting raged on, he issued apologies to the members of Team B, as referred to by the fans (or Not Team Arrow). Needless to say, Oliver's words didn't sit well with faithful viewers who have been wanting to see this team erased from the Arrowverse.

With the announcement that all three of the actors that portray the Team B members would be returning to Arrow Season 7, fans are now asking if there will be any remorse from that team. Will either of the three issue an apology for their actions in the sixth season, or are fans to believe that Oliver's apologies closed the gap between the teams?

The second string team has convinced themselves they are in the right, and that they are the ones who have been wronged. But they chose to go up against original Team Arrow because of Dinah's thirst for vengeance. And their actions proved that they were willing to cross any line to get what they wanted.

Dinah wanted vengeance for Vincent, her boyfriend who was killed by Black Siren. To do that, she didn't hesitate to use her pole against Quentin. Not once did she apologize to Quentin. She also threatened Oliver, actually believing she could take him.

Rene almost shot Felicity and has yet to apologize, and he squared off against Oliver. Granted, he got his butt handed to him, but he chose to take a stance against Oliver. Fans haven't forgotten that this entire mess started when Rene was ready to hand Oliver over to the feds because they threatened him with the loss of his daughter. Rene had a choice to make, and he could have let Team Arrow know what he was up against so they could have considered their options. Instead, he folded like a cheap suit.

And Curtis, who once upon a time was a nice guy, turned his knowledge of Diggle's implant against him and turned his back on the same people who taught him how to fight in the field.

Which is why fans are confused as to why Oliver apologized. How exactly did Oliver start any of this? He took a chance on a street thug who was going to get himself killed, taught Rene how to work with others and how to keep himself safe, and even saved his life. He helped Dinah get her act together and rein in her hatred. Because of him, she got a second chance on another police force. And as for Curtis, Oliver brought him onto the team, gave him a chance to help other people, a chance to be a hero.

And for all of Oliver's hard work, what did he get from Team B? Betrayal. It is extremely difficult for the fans of the show to overlook these three individuals' transgressions. Even now, with Season 7 starting in approximately two months, fans are still talking about how little respect and like they have for the team.

Oliver tried to warn Team B before the big fight in the 14th episode of the season. He wanted them to back down because Star City's livelihood depended on finding Black Siren. Instead of listening, the team accused Oliver of not being there to help Vincent, thinking he could have prevented the ex-cop's death, and Rene had the audacity to call Oliver a thug.

It was clear that the team was dug in and believed they were in the right, and while they threw fits about how they'd been mistreated, Oliver and his team tried to save Star City. And by the time the end of the season rolled around, Team B still hadn't redeemed itself even though Felicity was working with Curtis again, a fact which wasn't appreciated by the fans.

So the questions remain. Will Team B apologize to any member of Oliver's team? Will they make any attempts at reconciliation? How will they redeem themselves after their actions? And do fans even care if they do?

It can be difficult for a series to create redemption for characters who, after betraying the star of the series, have been nothing short of unlikable. And it's going to be difficult for fans to want any member of Team B to work with Team Arrow again. It will take a long time to rebuild the trust, if ever. First, fans need to see Dinah, Curtis, and Rene own up to their actions and issue some apologies of their own.
