Former #DoctorWho companion Arthur Darvill has recently revealed that he would love to play young Dumbledore in the #FantasticBeasts sequel hitting cinemas in late 2018. Earlier this year, #JKRowling had announced that the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them franchise will be made up of five films, with the first one already screening globally. Darvill said:

"Absolutely, (I'm up for it). D'you know what? I've made this pact with myself that when I hit a certain age, I'm only going to play wizards. I want to be that guy. So whether it's 10 years down the line or... When I can grow a salt and pepper beard, I would be totally happy just playing wizards for the rest of my life. But yeah, if they came knocking saying, 'We really want you to play the young Dumbledore', I'd definitely consider it!"

Arthur Darvill is popular for his role of Rory Williams in the long-running science fiction show Doctor Who. Darvill first appeared in Doctor Who in 2010 alongside the newly-regenerated Doctor played by Matt Smith, and also starred in the hit BBC series with Karen Gillian (Amy Pond), who went on to become a married couple. Darvill remained a permanent TARDIS companion with Gillian until 2012, when they departed the show in one of Doctor Who's most emotional episodes since its revival in 2005.

The Mystery Behind Dumbledore's Sexuality

News also rocked social media when JK Rowling hinted during a press conference that Dumbledore's sexuality will be explored in the Fantastic Beasts installments. Back in 2007, Rowling discussed the seventh and final #HarryPotter book (Deathly Hallows). The seventh and penultimate story of the Harry Potter trilogy had hinted that Dumbledore and his past teenage friend/feared wizard, Gellert Grindelwald, had a relationship beyond friends.

“Well, I can’t tell you everything I would like to say, because this is obviously a five-part story, so there’s lots to unpack in that relationship. I will say that you will see Dumbledore as a younger man, and quite a troubled man, because he wasn’t always the sage. He was always very clever, but we’ll see what I think was the formative period of his life. As far as his sexuality is concerned, watch the space.”

Dumbledore and Grindelwald had a contentious duel during the year 1945, which Albus Dumbledore won. Harry finds this out during the very first story of the franchise, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's/Sorcerer's Stone. The director of the Fantastic Beasts films, David Yates, confirmed that a younger Dumbledore will be discussed in the first installment of the spin-off franchise, which is set in 1926 New York. Later on, Yates had officially confirmed that a young Dumbledore will be physically on screen in the second installment.

When Is The Next Fantastic Beasts Film Due For Release?

As it stands, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2 is scheduled for release in the United States on November 16th, 2018. The release date is currently unconfirmed for the United Kingdom, which may mean the UK and USA will get the same release date.

On the other hand, it has been revealed that the sequel will be set in the beautiful city of Paris, confirmed by David Yates. Why Paris? The French wizarding community is related to the school Beauxbatons, which was featured in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, during the Tri-Wizard Tournament.
