'Scooby-Doo' - Review
For some reason, the 2002 live-action adaptation of Scooby-Doo always baffles me because of some of the creative decisions made. Now knowing that this film was written by James Gunn (the man behind the great film known as Guardians of the Galaxy) this film really throws me for a loop. For example, I'm not too sure who this film is made for. You'd think it was made for kids due to a property like "Scooby Doo," but then why all the sexual innuendos? Okay, then maybe this film is for teenagers who would not only get all the jokes, but they also grew up with the classic Scooby-Doo cartoon. It would make sense due to the fact that the plot revolves around college students partying on a resort island and the film casting such actors as Freddie Prince Jr., Matthew Lillard, Sarah Michelle Geller, and Linda Cardellini.

'The Running Man' - Review
If you have ever met me in person, you will know that I have an old soul. I really dislike the modern trends of music and celebrities and seem to be stuck in the past in terms of the entertainment I consume. Basically saying that I love everything the 80s. So one fateful trip to my local flea market, The Running Man caught my eye. A cheesy 80s action movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger, who wouldn't want to watch it? While The Running Man did entertain me for the most part, unfortunately, we have a movie that simply came and went without leaving any real emotional impact.

'Fast Five' - Review
When re-watching all of the Fast and the Furious movies again, I now understand why this entry is universally the most liked in the franchise. I will always have a soft spot for the first film for starting the franchise and for nostalgic reasons, but all the films leading up to this have been dull and boring despite having exciting car chases and action sequences. With Fast Five, the franchise decided to change course from a movie about a gang of drag racers in Los Angeles to fun heist film. It no longer feels like a film that is taking itself seriously. It now feels like a film that knows what it is and has fun with it.

'Knight and Day'—Review
So over the last few months, I have been on a real Tom Cruise kick. I have rewatched all the Mission Impossible films, Rain Man, War of the Worlds, Jerry Maguire, Vanilla Sky, and now Knight and Day. I remember watching the trailer for this film when it came out and it looked like a fun movie, but for some reason, it just slipped through the cracks until now. However, after watching it, I wasn't too upset that it took me this long to watch it because the one word I can use to describe this movie is "lazy".

'First Man'—Review
We have all heard the saying "the whole is greater than the sum of its parts" before right? If you haven't, let me bring you up to speed. The saying implies that something may have many mediocre features, but when you take a step back and look at it as a whole, it's beautiful. However, with First Man, I would use the saying "the whole is less than the sum of its parts." I could list off every single aspect of the movie from acting, directing, cinematography, writing, production design, costumes, sound design, visual effects, editing, and literally everything you can think of and I will tell you that they did an amazing job, but when I step back and look at the movie as a whole, I would say that I am pretty content with never watching it again.

'The Wolf of Wall Street'—Review
It was the week of Christmas, 2013. I had just completed my first semester of film school and because I was so busy studying the past couple of weeks, I decided to reward myself with a trip to the movies for four days in a row. American Hustle, Saving Mr. Banks, Anchorman 2, and on Christmas Day, after opening presents with family and friends, The Wolf of Wall Street. Now, I didn't really know what to expect and I was also extremely tired. Therefore, I wasn't the biggest fan of this movie for my first viewing. I thought it was extremely long (which it is) and I thought all the excess nudity, drugs and profanity was way too much. I had a hard time getting over all the craziness and seeing the actual story. However, there are some movies that I come across that I may not fully enjoy during my first viewing, but I can't stop thinking about it and give it a second chance where I end up loving it. The Wolf of Wall Street went from a three-hour snooze fest on Christmas morning, to one of my favourite movies.

'Army of Darkness' Review
This is the ultimate definition of a "Cult Classic" or a B-Movie. A film made with an extremely low budget of 11 million dollars and is beloved by the "Dungeons and Dragons" type of nerds and video gamers everywhere. And I don't say this as a bad thing. Although you won't find me at any "dungeons and dragons" meetups, I am totally on this movie's bandwagon.

Jerry Maguire - Review
I think that out of all the Tom Cruise films I have seen, this is my favorite performance of his. Now, as of the time that I am writing this, I haven't seen Born on the Fourth July or Magnolia yet, but here, I see Tom Cruise as an actor in a story rather than Tom Cruise going on his many adventures playing Tom Cruise. There is a moment where Jerry Maguire (the character, not the movie) is fired from a job and you see Tom Cruise dive into the Nicholas Cage realm of acting and you know what, I dug it. During the scene, Cruise plays it pretty calm in the smooth Tom Cruise kind of way, but you can tell that his character is one interruption away from losing it. For little brief moments, those little crazy moments slip out and it's great.

'War of the Worlds' Review
Do you ever come across that one movie where you hear bad reviews from countless different places, but you still want to watch it anyway? This scenario has happened to me a couple times, but the most recent example was Steven Spielberg's War of the Worlds. I've heard this film is boring, stupid, lazy, clumsy, messy and downright terrible. I'm here to tell you that I had an amazing time with this movie. Sure, some moments can be a little cheesy and there are some inconsistencies in terms of the aliens and their 'plan' but this is still an excellent, exciting, entertaining and terrifying movie.

'Crazy, Stupid, Love'—Review
In every relationship I have ever had, there has always been that "one talk." No, it wasn't about marriage, kids, moving in together, or even to try some frisky new thing in the bedroom, it has always been the "You haven't seen that?! We need to watch it together." Whether that be Legally Blonde or The Notebook, a movie has come up in conversation that my girlfriend at the time was in love with that I had just never seen. Most recently, that film was Crazy, Stupid, Love. So naturally, I wait until after we break up to watch it.

'American Wedding'—Review
So like I said in my review of American Pie 2, making a sequel to a comedy film is an extremely tough thing to do because not only do you have to recapture that magic and the humor of the first humor while taking the story in a new direction and in some cases like this one, keep the shock value fresh. The American Pie series has always prided itself with it's sexual, gross humor and when the first movie came out, we really had never seen this type of humor on this scale before. Sure, blowjobs and masturbation were topics of discussion in previous teen movies, but now, we have dudes drinking semen-laced beer, orgasming on webcam to the entire school, and of course, being caught having sex with an apple pie on the kitchen counter. So now that the shock value is over, what do you do next? Well, unfortunately, no American Pie sequel has been able to recreate the magic to the same degree as the first film did, but the first two sequels do give us some great scenes of gross sexual humor, really heartfelt moments and even a dance number.

'Fahrenheit 11/9'—Review
Let me just start by saying that I am going to try to keep my political stance out of this review as much as possible. However, it is going to be rather difficult to do so because this movie is a look into the world of Donald Trump's White House. So I don't even know where to begin. I guess I should state that I am a Canadian so although I find myself hanging more towards the left side on certain issues, I couldn't vote in the last election even if I wanted to.
