'The Incredibles 2'
It took Pixar Animation Studios fourteen years from the release of its hit superhero film The Incredibles to release the long-awaited sequel The Incredibles 2. I am pleasantly surprised with how the film turned out given my distrust of most sequels. I believe what set this film apart was the engaging story-telling that it provided audiences.

Why I Don't Watch the Oscars
It's that time of year when Hollywood is full of talk about who's up for what award—yes, Oscar season is upon us. I have never been a big fan of award shows except The Tony's and I will explain why later on. However, I have a reason why I don't watch The Oscars.

What Charles Foster Kane, Alan Jackson, and the Buddha Taught Me About Living
Citizen Kane is an incredible piece of cinema. If you have not yet seen it, I strongly encourage that you do so. It is a great commentary for the life we tend to lead in the 21st Century. The film follows the life of Charles Foster Kane played by the legendary Orson Welles, who is the inheritor of a massive fortune.

Returning to the Heart of Cinema
Often I am told that the reason most films to hit the box office are flops is that the market now is tailored towards an international audience. This might be so, but the question that I have is, "Why?" Were the movies somehow less popular before this trend towards global cinema took hold? I hardly think so. I went to the movies a total of once in 2018. Why? Because it is seldom if ever that the movies provide something that is story driven. Today, it's about explosions, CGI, and lackluster sequels that seldom if ever live up to their poor predecessors.

Someone Please Save 'Harry Potter' from J.K. Rowling
If you didn't see Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, then you will be as confused as me who did see it. The story itself had the potential to be interesting as a solid prequel to the Harry Potter franchise, but it couldn't decide what it was about.
