Running Government Like a Business
Let me illustrate…No, fuck that. Let me ILLUMINATE my point. Once upon a time, I was working in an all-night gas-and-go. Which I won't name, it was a chain, as opposed to some mom and pop operation and I'll leave it at that. For the purposes of confounding lawyers, I shall call this all-night gas-and-go chain, Skidmark America, or S.A. for short.

Baked Sale
Baked Sale So. I have this thought. Kentucky is like many places. It has cities, its citizens have access to corporations, universities, indoor plumbing, shoes, and what-not. And like many places, in the bible belt, the cities generally vote heavily liberal while the non-urban bits of the state tend to go conservative.

Job Hunting and Why I Hate It So
There are two things in this world, that I loathe and despise perhaps more than any other things. One of them is searching for a new place to live. Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise, I won't have to deal with that again for a long long time.

My Daughter
Sit down, kid. So, you’re going out? Anyplace fun? Sure. Look. I don’t want to make you nervous or anything like that. Operation Good Table
Operation Good Table In my completely arrogant opinion, I think that stiffing a server is just about one of the lowest acts that a human being can commit that isn't already a crime. I put it right down there with trashing a public restroom as the hallmark of a low-class individual. It is, in my _still_ completely arrogant opinion, one of those things that point you up as lacking in social graces or indeed as lacking any knowledge or sense of the social contract as a whole. It means someone needed to slap your mama. Hard.

My Experience
Today, I want to talk about something I don't tend to share with people. Most of you who are regular readers of my internet soap-boxes already know that there is an interest and an understanding of religious issues that have shaped our political discourse of the day. Granted, I'm on record as being against having religion mixed up with politics. I DON'T think they are two great tastes that taste great together. I think that religion is an intensely private and deeply personal thing, and not supposed to be tribalistic movement which is steered by deeply cynical jerks with carrot and stick.

Heroes and Villains
Heroes and Villains When I was a kid, I had a bad combination. Little shrimpy body, oversized head for my ill-concealed genius, and a big mouth. And it was this big mouth and my bad temper that got me in trouble. And it got the shit kicked out of me on a semi-regular basis.
