Awesome Fan Art of a Childhood Classic: Gargoyles by Ryan Lang
It's especially great because it's bringing some love and attention to the Gargoyles series that really needs it.
Now here's something really neat, and very dear to my heart. I'm always searching for incredible fan creations, and because fans are inventive, brilliant and dedicated people, I always find it.
And this particular installment in our neverending parade of fan-made awesomeness comes from LA-based artist Ryan Lang. Lang has an incredible gallery of art, both original and glorious renditions of our favorite characters; but I had to feature this series for two reasons. Firstly, because he just did such a dang good job, and secondly, because Gargoyles needs more love, always. And Lang gives the series some much-needed attention and appreciation with his art.

If you weren't around in the early '90s, or missed Gargoyles the first time around, let me tell you, it's an underloved and hidden gem of a Disney classic. It was an animated series released in 1994 on the Disney channel. You might know the name Greg Weisman from his work on subsequent series' like W.I.T.C.H. and Young Justice - well, he's also the creator of Gargoyles. Which should say something right there about how cool it was. So, it makes sense that it couldn't have been more different in tone than your usual after-school fare. Think Ninja Turtles meets the Dark Knight, with a ton of character development, linear, involved storylines, and mythological integration - with freaking Shakespeare. (For real. Macbeth - yes, that Macbeth - is a recurring character, for one.)
Now I know this is a fanart article, so I'm not going to talk your ear (eyes?) off about how great Gargoyles is, but I'm going to in a future article. Instead, let's talk about how great Ryan Lang is! Look at this awesome art. It's amazing. And especially great because it's bringing some love and attention to a series that really needs it. Enjoy the rest of the Manhattan Clan!

Are those dreads? They work really well on him.
Look at this freaking cutie. Lex love for life!
Love the studs on Hudson's armor.
You can find this series and tons more at his official art blog and portfolio - and as always, if you can, please show this talented and dedicated artist some love! Thanks so much for reading!
