Reading is a tool I use in everyday life. I love to read and I make sure that my kids also enjoy reading. Reading can reduce stress, reduce anger and frustration; it can improve memory, and it can reduce your risk of developing dementia and Alzheimer's later in life. Reading has so many great benefits. I love to read and I enjoy quite a vast array of genres. There are many different levels of each genre as well, so it is easy for someone to find something that they enjoy reading. The best thing about reading is it can be done at any time, and you don't have to read a lot each day to receive the benefits. Just twenty minutes a day can change your mood, increase memory, and lift your spirits. Reading a book can also calm you down, help you escape into another world, and brighten up your day.

There are all different types of books available. If you feel overwhelmed by a situation, there are self help books. These books can pinpoint what's going on in your life and can help you reach a rational decision to help matters. They are great for giving advice, tips, and even links to online resources. They can give you a sense of what is going on and they can help you realize that you are not alone. They can give you a sense of hope, renew hopes, and get rid of any fears or doubts about a situation. After my second daughter was born, I developed postpartum depression, and reading a book about it and how to cope with it really helped. I knew that other mothers went through this stage as well and that there were things I could do to help my situation.

Books are wonderful in that they provide much more than useful tips to help you through a tough time. They can also help guide you step by step how to start your own garden, how to build a bookshelf, how to browse the internet safely, and many more useful hints and tips on how to do practically anything. You can also use reference books and online links from these books if you are writing something important. Books have many tools that you can do to finish a project, build something, make something, or even how to start a hobby. You can find a book about how to start a scrapbooking hobby, or how to knit, or how to start collecting stamps. Anything that you might want to do, you can find it in a book. Reading isn't all about getting information though...reading books can also take you to a different world.

Reading other kinds of books like crime fiction, fantasy fiction, romantic fiction, thrillers or mysteries can help you escape. It can take you to different places and you can easily identify with the characters. There are also books based on real life stories and people, if you prefer non fiction. You can choose auto biographies, biographies, or confessions from blogs or samples of a journal. There are literary journals and magazines that portray people's life stories. These have short stories in them for people who do not want to invest time in a long book. Either way, reading a book or magazine can be very relaxing.
