Marvel's most recent addition to the Avengers roster, Vision, played by renown actor Paul Bettany will again be seen on-screen in Captain America: Civil War. We were introduced to Paul Bettany's Vision in The Avengers: Age Of Ultron. Wherein Tony Stark with the help of Thor and Bruce Banner create the Vision. Vision is an android of differing origins. In Marvel Comics, Hank Pym, otherwise known as Ant-Man creates Ultron, who creates Vision; but in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Ultron is a creation of Tony Stark's through the means of Loki's scepter(houses an infinity stone) and an artificial intelligence programming. Ultron unwittingly creates a suitable body for the Vision, by creating an robotic suit made of vibranium purposed for Ultron as a permanent housing for his consciousness. Vibranium is the same raw element that Captain America's shield is made up of. Unfortunately for Ultron, the Avengers get a hold of the vibranium shell and place another artificial intelligence in the android shell, in place of Ultron. The Vision.

In Avengers: Age of Ultron, the introduction of Vision came as a surprise, since Vision's comic-book origins have him as a creation of Hank Pym/Ant-Man(whom had no role in Avengers: Age of Ultron) .None of the Avengers know what to expect from the creation of the Vision but they find him/it to be an ally quickly. Vision doesn't have too much screen-time to speak of his philosophies, but when the Avengers ask Vision whose side he's on, the Vision has an interesting answer. Vision goes on to state that he's on the side of life, rather than on Ultron's side or the Avenger's, that remark says a lot about where his loyalties lie. It is presumed that he has similar principles to that of JARVIS installed in him by Tony Stark, being that Vision assimilated the remanants of JARVIS to become what it is. Vision's comment of "being on the side of life" could have several meanings, but Vision is willing to destroy Ultron to save the people of Earth; meaning that Vision is willing to destroy or kill others in order to save lives. Vision appears to have good intentions but is Vision capable of his using all of his abilities to defeat any opposition without regard for their lives?

In Captain America: Civil War, Vision will be a part of the Civil War conflict and appears to be on Iron Man's side within the conflict; he will most likely be faced with the dilemma of killing former comrades to save human lives. Vision'll be going up against former comrades Captain America, Winter Soldier, Falcon, Scarlet Witch, and Ant-Man, which would call for Vision to use all of his strengths to defeat them. It's not likely that Vision'll use any measure of holding back to fight his adversaries.

Vision has the intent to protect as much life as possible, but he could also be willing to take lives in an endeavor to save more lives. That theory could align with why Vision aligns with Tony Stark in Captain America: Civil War, seeing that the Sokovia Accords would save lives. It'd give cause for Vision to support Tony Stark in the Civil War conflict. With that being said, if Vision is indeed willing to take lives to save others, then what will he do to Captain America's team? We know Vision is in possession of the Infinity Stone(Mind Gem) which holds an immense amount of power, and Vision's body is also made of a vibranium which gives him an advantage over quite a few of the Avengers. Vision won't be so easy to bring down, if he's ever backed into a corner, he'll probably be willing to expel an immense amount of energy from the Infinity Stone to protect himself.

Along with the potential to endanger civilian life, the Infinity Stone could cause casualties in the resulting burst of energy. We won't know what Vision is capable of until we see him face off against Captain America and his team, but Vision hasn't been seen alongside Tony Stark/Iron Man in any of the promotional footage for the film. Except for the scene where a major battle breaks out between the two warring sides, Vision hasn't been seen. That could mean a different plot thread to be followed for Vision.

There's been massive speculation and also leaked information hinted at an Avenger switching sides at one point in Captain America: Civil War, that Avenger could be the Vision. We know that Vision sides with Tony Stark/Iron Man in the conflict but he's not seen defending or helping Tony Stark in any of the confrontations he has with Winter Soldier/Bucky Barnes and Captain America; it could just be that Vision isn't around during the time that the confrontations take place, or Vision has originally been siding with Captain America until a significant event happens in the film that changes the Vision's allegiance, to siding with Tony Stark/Iron Man. The last time Vision was seen, he was on Captain America's new team of Avengers at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron.

It's plausible that Vision has sided with Captain America from the start of the Civil War conflict until he sees that Captain America's cause is getting people killed, which would force Vision to turn on Captain America in an effort to stop him. Alliances can change and philosophies can be altered, Vision is an artificial intelligence still learning of the world. He/it could be easily influenced by any number of environmental factors which means that a change in allegiance wouldn't be much of stretch for Vision to go through, in the confusing conflict that is presented in Captain America: Civil War. Nothing will be clear until Vision's place in the MCU is cemented in Captain America: Civil War, that is when we see what he is capable of in a fight against comrades. That'll show what kind of character he is in the MCU, ally or foe, villain or hero, or other so.

UPDATE: Trailer #2 for the film, Captain America: Civil War didn't release much new footage but some interesting screenshots were caught by some keen-eyed fans involving Vision and Scarlet Witch. The two Avengers didn't have much time to interact during Avengers: Age of Ultron, and neither have used their abilities against the other in any instance. The cataclysm that these two super-powered individuals will have in Civil War has yet to be touched upon but the most recent trailer gives us a clue to who may win the encounter between the two. The less than second long shot, of Vision being restrained by Scarlet Witch says two things. For one, Vision's powers stemming from the Infinity Stone, The Mind Stone, aren't invulnerable to opposing enhanced individuals; there is the possibility that Scarlet Witch's power manifesting themselves originally from the Infinity Stone could make her less affected by the Infinity Stones. And two, Scarlet Witch has the ability to completely restrain Vision based on the composition of his physiology being a metal that Scarlet Witch can manipulate; Scarlet Witch's ability of manipulating metals was highlighted in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Not much can be speculated as to how else these two Avengers will interact with each other but if the scene from the new trailer is any indication, Scarlet Witch will have learned a new extent to her powers.

Speculation aside, when directors, Russo brothers were asked about Scarlet Witch's powers in Captain America: Civil War, the two mentioned that Scarlet Witch has honed her powers and will feature some unseen abilities that weren't shown in Avengers: Age of Ultron. It's interesting that Scarlet Witch whose enhanced because of the Infinity Stone, is still developing more abilities with the passing of time. Scarlet Witch could possibly overpower Vision in time and may learn to use her powers on a more supernatural level to bring back her brother, Pietro Maximoff, from the dead. That's a stretch but the collision between Vision and Scarlet Witch in Captain America: Civil War is definitely going to be another fan-ticipated confrontation between two super-powered Avengers.
