Casting the MCU’s Fantastic Four

My Opinion on Who Should be Casted as the Famous Family Now That They're Back Home at Marvel

So last time I put my thoughts together on who should play the MCU’s Sinister Six, and as we know Disney has recently acquired the rights to Fox. Which as a comic book nerd made me very giddy as we all know which comic book characters fox owned. The Xmen and The Fantastic Four. (Not to mention a certain pool of dead as well.)

This got me thinking, after two attempts at the famous family for the big screen, the first one being mediocre and the second one just being downright awful, I figured if anyone would be great at casting it would be the MCU, so I put together my opinion on who should be cast.

Now again, this is my personal opinion, so I’m sure there will be others who will disagree, that being said. Let’s crack on, starting with the leader of the group.

1) Reed Richards/Edward Norton

I know what you’re thinking, how could he play Reed Richards when he already played The Incredible Hulk. Now Edward Norton did an amazing job as Bruce Banner, but was later recast to Mark Ruffalo due to the fact Marvel wanted to someone with a bit more creativity to embody the role, which I think they succeeded with doing, not to say that Edward Norton isn’t an exceptional actor.

This is why I chose him to play Reed Richards, as he’s used to playing that scientific role, plus I figured if Marvel didn’t think he could pull of a big green radioactive monster he’d be suited to playing an intelligent scientist with stretching abilities.

Not only is Mr. Norton good at playing that serious role, we have seen him portray more comedic characters in films such as The Dictator and Sausage Party, which would be suitable for the Marvel as their movies always have that element of comedy in all of their movies.

He also has that tall, skinny build which would be perfect for the role of Reed Richards.

2) Benjamin Grimm/ Michael Fassbender

Another controversial opinion of mine as Michael Fassbender had been playing Erik Lensherr aka Magneto for a while, but since the deal with Marvel it’s most likely they’ll scrap the X-Men and start again, so why not keep Michael Fassbender in the MCU by casting him as Benjamin Grimm/The Thing?

Now Michael Chiklis made a very good Ben Grimm but no offense to him, he’s probably a bit old now to play him. So let’s use another Michael to fill his boots.

Now I know Ben Grimm isn’t Ben Grimm most of the time as he later turns into a big rock monster known as The Thing, which will require a lot of CGI and special effects so although we’ll see a lot of great acting from Fassbender, it’ll mostly be done via computer and motion capture, but due to his reputation as a successful actor and experience with CGI in X-Men and Assassin's Creed, I’m sure this wouldn’t be a problem for him.

3) Susan Storm/Charlize Theron

This one was an easy decision for me as I think Charlize Theron is an amazing actress appearing in such films as Mad Max and Prometheus, not to mention she’s already played a character with superpowers in Hancock. I have no doubt in my mind that she’d do an exceptional job as Sue Storm.

Sue Storm is the older sister of Johnny Storm and Love interest of Reed Richards who gains the power of invisibility and to use force fields. She is the only woman in the team so an actress such as Charlize Theron playing her would really drive the team and be the most badass of them all.

Plus, just at look at her! She already looks the spitting image of Sue Storm and again like Michael Fassbender she’s used to working around CGI and special effects so playing the part would be a walk in the park.

4) Johnny Storm/Liam Hemsworth

Finally the last member of the team, everyone’s favourite hot headed superhero: Johnny Storm and I’ve chosen Thor’s brother himself Liam Hemsworth. Most people would recognise Liam from The Hunger Games portraying Gale Hawthorne.

But the movies such as Independence Day: Resurgence, and The Expendables make him perfect for the Role of Johnny Storm due to the fact that he can play scenes that are fast and action packed, not to mention he’s easy on the eyes to most female viewers just like Johnny Storm.

Johnny Storm is the cocky younger brother of Sue Storm who has the ability to engulf himself in fire and use it at his will, plus he can fly. Which I think Liam could pull of easily, not to mention it would be pretty amusing to see the banter between The Thing and himself.

And finally it would be pretty cool to see scenes between Liam and Chris and have someone like Tony say how much they look alike, plus you can imagine Captain America saying something like ‘I would never be so hot headed’ which would be a funny reference to the fact he once played The Human Torch.

Now we’ve got one more part to cast, the main villain of the Team:

5) Victor Von Doom/ Matt Dillon

Now like the Thing, we won’t see much of his face but instead of CGI, it would just be a mask. Victor Von Doom is the The Fantastic Four's most evil nemesis, he is a polymath with some mystical abilities and also has the ability to project bolts of energy.

The reason why I cast Matt Dillon is because not only does he look he’d make a good villain but also because he’s an actor who can portray many types of characters from the idiot villain Healy in There’s Something About Mary to the more Serious role of Ethan Burke in Wayward Pines, so portraying someone like Doctor Doom will be another good part for him to add to his list of great parts, plus the fact he hasn’t as of yet played a superhero/villain so playing this character would be a great one which I’m sure he’d nail!

So there we have it, my fan cast of the Fantastic Four plus a bonus of Victor Von Doom, let me know what you think. Until next time! Peace!
