While the internet is comparing French president Emmanuel Macron to #JamesBond there's no doubt that the movie series has been out for vacation. There's not even been word yet if Daniel Craig would be returning to reprise his role as the British secret agent. All of this is backed by the constant discussion of where the franchise is at and where the rights are for the franchise.

With all of these elements keeping a bit of a buzz around the internet, fans have been choosing to place Idris Elba has become the internet's choice to replace Daniel Craig. While that buzz has been going around, there's one element at play in this storm of information. Director Christopher Nolan has expressed his interest in taking over the franchise. Even with a new sidekick possibly returning for the 25th James Bond film, there's still room for a lot of questions to be asked.

With his interest in place to take over the classic character, there's no doubt that Christopher Nolan's take on the character may be something a bit different than what we know. There's a good chance that we will see a darker, gritter, and more realistic approach to the secret agent himself. His stipulation, however, is clear. He wants to reinvent the series.

In an interview with Playboy in order to promote his movie DUNKIRK, he expressed his interest in the franchise as seen below:

A Bond movie, definitely. I’ve spoken to the producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson over the years. I deeply love the character, and I’m always excited to see what they do with it. Maybe one day that would work out. You’d have to be needed, if you know what I mean. It has to need reinvention; it has to need you. And they’re getting along very well.

There's no doubt that the Bond movies are successful. As it's already known, SKYFALL and SPECTRE both managed to rake in between $800 million and $1.1 billion in the global box offices. While there is a chance to bring Daniel Craig back into the role as the best spy ever. There's still question as to where the franchise can go, and who will be doing what when the time comes.

All of this being in the air has managed to leave major questions as to who will be taking the role if Daniel Craig doesn't reappear. There is speculation that actors Idris Elba, Tom Hiddleston, or Tom Hardy could be considered for the role. While there is rumor that Daniel Craig has signed up for the 25th installment to the franchise, there's not been a word from the writers, the studio, or even the producer(s) whether or not this will be happening. Lets just hope that if we do see a Christopher Nolan directed film, that something big will happen as a James Bond cinematic universe unfolds, and James Bond will fit what fans know and love.
