We all know that Japan is and always will be one of the leading countries to introduce, let's call it, interesting things. Although they've been steps ahead in terms of electronics and technology, they've also had some of the most inventive and oddball items in the world. Sometimes those creations have been taken to extremes like cactus flavored ice cream and female lap pillows (literally a pillow in the shape of a women's legs).

Yet some of the most fun things to come from Japan have been Pokémon inspired. From toys to body suits, from video game crossovers to home remodels, from decorative accessories to —now— full sized trains.

Yes, there is a full-sized Pikachu train.

After the devastating earthquake that rocked Japan in 2011, Pokémon With You was started as a disaster relief project. The team behind the recovery took over Japan Railway East in 2012 with a sightseeing train, fully decked out in a Pokémon theme.

The "Pokémon With You Train" was decommissioned on May 7th, 2017 after having transported nearly 40,000 people over its 4 year and 5 month tour. But on July 15th, 2017 the Pikachu-themed model will start taking new tours across the Japanese Ofunato Line from Ichinoseki Station to Kesennuma Station.

The interior and exterior of the new Pikachu Train will seek to bring smiles to adults and children as they take a pleasant ride surrounded by the bright yellows and browns of one of the most beloved Pokémon ever.

This is, of course, not the beginning of Pokémon transportation.

Forget your running shoes and your bike from Cerulean City, Eterna City, Mauville City, Cyllage City, or Nimbasa City. It sure seems as though Pokémon is taking over all forms of transportation.

The Pokémon Train isn't the first major form of transit to get a makeover, over the years we've seen countless other vehicle transformations.

There is definitely a trend building with Pokémon vehicles.
