Eight Years Later: How 'Game of Thrones' Changed My Life
Just as I was willing to submit to futile boredom and contempt, it darted up. Hard, fast, and agile—appearing before me in a whirlwind and blur. Dashing from picture to picture, scene to scene; candid in its presence as it prowl before me, ready to strike directly into my heart. And strike it did; deep, passionate, irrevocable. Then, at the end of each electrical impulse, when the synapses’ were no longer being danced across, all that was left was me. Reeling and reflecting, in both my TV screen and contemplation. What happens next? Who happens next? Will I ever grow tired of such a phenomenal outlook on a completely fantasised realm?

I have been watching Game of Thrones since it first came to HBO eight years ago and it has changed my life in ways that I could not have imagined. My life has been changed by

Despite the disappointment from many fans of the Game of Thrones TV show, one thing that a lot of people seem to be happy with is Sansa being Queen of the North and Ayra being alive. A lot of fans are pretending season eight doesn't exist and that their favourite character is sitting on the Iron Throne drinking wine. The world has enough negativity as there is, so I wanted to make a small tribute to two of my favourite characters that survived Game of Thrones: Arya and Sansa Stark.

OK, so what's with the Mountain and the Hound? Where are their parents? I want to know how they were raised. Why so much hate? Besides the fact that the Mountain burned the Hounds face in their childhood. Why are they so angry? So many questions I wish can be answered.
'Bran' You Believe It?: How 'Game of Thrones' Has Changed My Life
It's been a long road of slaughter and Starks, Baratheons, and beheadings, Lannisters and loss, Greyjoys and goodbyes, but HBO's Game of Thrones has finally come to an end. While an article on how David Benioff and D.B. Weiss' fantasy epic changed your life might seem a little cliché to some, it's one that's a little closer to home for me—putting it as bluntly as Lady Olenna, I literally owe my writing career to the Seven Kingdoms.

To tell the story of how Game of Thrones impacted my life, would require more than the amount of words allowed for this piece, so I'll make this one short and sweet... For starters I didn’t know about GOT until it was well into its third season. I was still a die-hard Walking Dead fan.

May, 2016. It was the penultimate week of high school, and Mrs. Scallon had one last project to assign my AP Psych class before the majority of us graduated.

How 'GOT' changed my life? Well, first of all: Don‘t ever, ever, EVER fall in love with ANY character in this show because they‘re going to die and your heart will be ripped out and you'll be traumatized for your whole life.

Game of Thrones has some awesome characters. Epic worldbuilding and awesome scenes. It's just not always handled well. I'm not surprised, they've got a big cast and multiple points of view. The case is especially true to the way the women were written into the show. Maybe the show is too big for its own good and they need separate shows and films like Marvel does to help make their characters shine. At times it's great, but at other times, not so much.

I am Jon Snow. I am Tyrion Lannister. I am Daenerys Targaryen. In a more literal sense I am Hanna of house Allison. A character not written by George R. Martin or Benioff and Weiss in any of the seasons, yet carefully depicted within the beloved people of the seven kingdoms. I related to the characters in this show on a level that took me by surprise, now it’s ending has broken my heart—and left my Sundays blandly free—but has also left me hope for so much more of what is to come for me. It turns out there is a place in the world for “cripples, bastards, and broken things.”

I was a bit late to the party of Game of Thrones because when the show started, I was still in high school and some of my classmates were already watching it. I didn't watch any original content that HBO put out back then because of how violent and really sexual they can get but as soon as I turned 18, I felt like I could finally explore all of the stuff they do put out. I'm 24 years old now and if you told younger me that this show was going to be on my radar, I probably wouldn't have believed you.
