Score Review - 'Avengers: Endgame'
Alan Silvestri's sweeping, unflinchingly epic score to the mega-hit Marvel's Avengers: Endgame, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, brings to mind the mythic legends of old. As the era of superhero films reaches its next highest point, it becomes clear these stories may be looked at in the same lineage as Hercules, Jason and the Argonauts, Orpheus, and Eurydice, and the other tales of old. With hindsight, a world in which Tony Stark, T'Challa, this iteration of Thor, and the rest of Marvel's gallery is viewed as a new branch of mythology isn't far off. The score for the film seems to recognize and play into this with its use of seemingly timeless chord progressions, proud new melodies, and almost spiritual implications.

Shain ThomasPublished 5 years ago in GeeksHow Many Black Widows Are There in the 'Black Widow' Standalone MCU Film?
After several appearances in the MCU, the first lady of the Avengers, and arguably the foundation of the superhero team is finally getting her own solo film. This, some would debate, is long overdue and I am one to agree with them. Scarlett Johansson is one of the biggest stars on the planet and portrays a character with no powers that can not only run with the best, but can take them down if need be. The Black Widow character has been a force to be reckoned with in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, playing critical roles in taking down Loki, Ultron, and even the Mad Titan Thanos. And when her untimely demise came in efforts to obtain the Soul Stone from the Red Skull, it was a hard loss to take for most fans out there. But as we all watched her fall, in the back of our minds we knew or at least hoped that she would be getting one last ride in the form of some prequel endeavor. And now some more light has been shed on the top-secret origin story of one of Marvel’s most badass characters.

With Spider-Man: Far From Home due to hit theatres worldwide in the next few days, the hype is probably not as high as it has been for previous Spider-Man movies, and especially coming after the behemoth of Avengers: Endgame, Marvel Studios is hoping that this latest addition to the Spider-Man and MCU pantheons doesn’t feel a bit like after the Lord Mayor’s show. And with the latest film being part-set in London, that idiom was entirely appropriate. So how have previous six Spider-Man films fared with audiences and critics?

In the second chapter of the new Spider-Man franchise, Far From Home we see our precious Peter Parker travel to Europe with his classmates. When he leaves Queens, he tries to leave Spider-Man behind, but May makes sure his suit follows him. The main points of Far From Home were grief, and learning to stand on your own. At this point in time, Peter has just lost Tony, who by all accounts, was like his surrogate father. Stark took care of him, loved him, guided him, and taught him, and with him gone, Peter had to navigate the world of being a hero by himself.
