Could Gamora and Her Sister Ultimately Be the Cause of Thanos' Downfall In 'Avengers: Infinity War'?

When we talk about superheroes it doesn't necessarily mean caped and suited men. The womenfolk of Marvel have proved themselves indispensable to the #MCU and Gamora and Nebula tops the list. Thanos, the possessor of the Infinity Gauntlet is finally coming to wreak havoc in 2018 when the curtain rises for Avengers: Infinity War. We have never met him before leaving the exceptions in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and in post credit scenes of a few movies. But a man wielding the Infinity Stones should be a matter of concern for not only the Avengers, but for all living beings on the galaxy.

So, how do we defeat a man with an infinite source of power? Gamora and Nebula have a greater role to play in Avengers: Infinity War and can turn out to be the driving force in defeating Thanos.

Why Gamora and Nebula Are a Bigger Threat to Thanos than the Other Heroes

The Avengers have no idea who Thanos is. The closest they have ever been to him was when Loki recruited his army (The Chitauri) to fight against the Avengers in the Avengers movie. We have seen of Thanos is in the post credit scenes (#Marvel post credits can form a different story altogether!). So, they cannot fathom the intensity of the upcoming danger. Doctor Strange, on the other hand, doesn't even know what the Avengers initiative is (yet). Thanos is still a mile away.

So, it seems that only the Guardians have a fair amount of knowledge of the Infinity Stones and Thanos himself. Gamora and Nebula excel in that since they had lived all their life beside him. Thanos killed Gamora's parents and raised her as his own child and Nebula was also raised in his service. So it seems that they are the most likely choice that might result in elimination of Thanos since they might know of his weaknesses and his vulnerable spots.

How the Two Sisters Might Pose a Threat to Thanos' Survival

Gamora and Nebula have always despised Thanos for destroying their childhood but that did not stop him from driving a wedge between the two sisters. Nebula ruminates on her painful past and recounts her hatred for Gamora and Thanos,

"My father would have Gamora and me battle one another in training. Every time, my sister prevailed, my father would replace a piece of me with machinery, claiming he wanted me to be "her equal." But she won. Again, and again, and again, never once refraining. So, after I murder my sister, I will buy a warship with every conceivable instrument of death, I will hunt my father like a dog and I will tear him apart piece by piece."

However, in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, we find them letting go of their differences and uniting to fight against Thanos. The two of them had spent their entire childhood training under Thanos, so they are bound to know more about him than the Avengers, Doctor Strange and S.H.I.E.L.D combined. Moreover, they have a fair amount of knowledge of the Infinity Stones and Gauntlet. So, they might be able to predict Thanos' plan of stealing the stones and the way he means to wield them. That would give the Avengers a lot of insight and would contribute to their efforts of stopping him.

How Possessing the Infinity Stones Might Make Thanos Invincible

The Infinity Stones are immensely powerful objects with unique powers. Using only one of them can render superpowers futile and we are talking about a man who is going to use all six! Taneleer Tivan, the Collector recounted,

"These stones, it seems, can only be brandished by beings of extraordinary strength. These carriers can use the stone to mow down entire civilizations like wheat in a field. Once, for a moment, a group was able to share the energy amongst themselves, but even they were quickly destroyed by it."

God bless the Avengers and the Guardians! Brute force and heat seeking missiles won't help against such an enemy. What we need is profound knowledge of his character and his ways of working. Only then can they think of being one step ahead of him all the time and Gamora and Nebula can come handy in that aspect. But even with the valuable inputs of the sisters, Thanos might prove to be well beyond reach. After all, we are talking about six Infinity Stones! Let's see what MCU has in stock for us.
