Deadpool Creator Rob Liefeld Finally Answers The Question: Would Wade's Chimichanga Grow Back?

Can Wade Wilson, y'know, regrow every body part?

In the 2016 movie Deadpool, our titular hero — played by Ryan Reynolds — regrew his own hand after chopping it off, thanks to his mutant healing factor. This left gutter-brained fans everywhere to wonder: can Wade Wilson, y'know, regrow every body part?

Thanks to a new interview with comic book legend Rob Liefield at Inverse, we have an official answer. The creator of Marvel's Merc with a Mouth, while promoting the new graphic novel Deadpool: Bad Blood, got asked whether or not Deadpool's private parts would also grow back if they were to be cut off. Liefield responded with this statement, which is as definitive as you can get:

"Yes, yes. We would never, ever live in a world where Deadpool can’t regenerate his own c**k and balls.”

Now, this may not be too surprising. Why wouldn't Deadpool's healing factor work the same for every part of his body? And that fact is now Marvel canon due to Rob Liefeld answering a reporter's raunchy question. Who says journalism's greatest days are behind us?

But seriously, fans have always wondered how efficient Deadpool's healing factor really is — namely how Deadpool's body regenerates body parts that have been severed. To further answer that question, Rob Liefield also included this tidbit about Deadpool's (uh, other) head.

Liefield Says A Decapitated Deadpool Would Grow A New Head

According to Liefield, in the scenario of Deadpool's noggin being cut off, his body would likewise grow a new one:

"He would generate a new head, and I’m telling you, he would generate a new head.”

Still, that leaves the question of what happens to Deadpool's old head unanswered. Does Deadpool's old head stay alive? Or is only the new head alive? If the old head also remains alive, that means there could be a bunch of talking Deadpool heads lying around in the Marvel universe. Which one is the real Deadpool? Are they all the real Deadpool? Why don't the old heads grow new bodies if his body can grow a new head?

Until Rob Liefield answers these questions, we may not know the specifics of Deadpool's healing factor when it comes to replacing body parts. But, we did learn that Deadpool's junk will regenerate, so that's something?

Will Any Of These Revelations Affect Deadpool 2?

Since #Deadpool was rated R — and by far the raunchiest superhero movie to date — we should expect the sequel to hold similar a tone. It wouldn't be too much of a surprise to see Deadpool's family jewels shot off during #Deadpool2 (perhaps by Josh Brolin's Cable?), only to have them grow back in a visually agonizing scene. Actually, that sounds like something Ryan Reynolds would put in his contract.

Either way, we're sure the 2018 sequel will be hilarious. Until then, Deadpool fans can check him out in Rob Liefeld's Deadpool: Bad Blood, which hits stores on May 17th.
