Debra Messing And Susan Sarandon Got Into A Political Showdown On Twitter And Debra Was NOT Having It

If you are anything like me, your Facebook has been inundated with constant political posts ever since the election (and even before). It isn't pretty, with the President-elect having many people divided across the country. #SusanSarandon is one of many celebrities who have gotten very vocal recently about the election on her Twitter account. She was a staunch Bernie Sanders supporter but when he backed out she supported third-party candidate Jill Stein, stating

“Now that Trump is self-destructing, I feel even those in swing states have the opportunity to vote their conscience.”

However, she seems to be going a bit back and forth on the matter, because she has also said this about Trump in the past:

"Well, you know, some people feel Donald Trump will bring the revolution immediately. If he gets in, then things will really explode.”

Many have been attacking her for her views, asking how she can support a candidate who has said some pretty heinous things in the past. She replied in a very diplomatic way:

It quickly became a battle of the redheads, however, when Will & Grace and Smash star #DebraMessing jumped in to voice her own displeasure about what Susan was saying — and she was hilariously less diplomatic about it:

Being vocal about politics and the need to be involved isn't exactly new to the actress, however. Earlier this year, the Will & Grace cast reunited to film a hilarious skit about the importance of voting and being informed:

Susan had no fighting words in retort, simply sidestepped the issue by encouraging Debra to show her support towards the Dakota Access Pipeline issue (which even got protestor Shailene Woodley arrested), clearly trying to steer the conversation away from unsavory topics:

Debra, however, wasn't having any of it, calling Susan out. You know what they say about us redheads, never get us angry:

But she wasn't done yet, and went OFF. She even went so far as to respond to one of Susan's followers:

Susan just wanted to drop the issue, however, and kept on about the clash at Standing Rock:

Though there is clearly no love lost between the two stars, we can all agree that we should fight for what we believe in, whether it's standing with Standing Rock or something else. However, it is kind of fun to see Debra wearing her sassy pants - just in time for that Will & Grace revival in the works.
