Did The Independence Day: Resurgence Trailer Spoil The Whole Film?

Independence Day: Resurgence is set to release Summer, 2016. It's been 20 years since Independence Day premiered in theaters. And it looks like the time span between films in the franchise might have left a negative effect on the franchise. Independence Day (1996) was a classic science fiction film that will be regarded as such for a very long time. It ignited a fervor among fans, as well as appealing to a huge audience. The film set a precedent for an unknown happening to occur in a film to that date. Allying every human being against an alien force. It sparked mass appeal from audiences everywhere as audiences were privy to a film which united countries and entities, whom had contentious relations in the every-day world, within a fictitious scenario which called for governments and diplomats to put aside their petty differences to survive in the face of alien annihilation. It was definitely a captivating cinematic experience, although it may not wind up the same for its sequel, Independence Day Resurgence (2016).

Trailer Breakdown of Independence Day: Resurgence.

From what can be gathered in the trailer, Independence Day: Resurgence will begin as an alien presence resurfaces on Earth. By the time this event takes place, the world has used the alien technology left on the planet during Independence Day(1996) to advance civilization and prepare it for the alien's inevitable return. And they have returned. Jeff Goldblum's character of David Levinson is set to return to the franchise as well in Independence Day: Resurgence(2016). His character also got a highlight on the viral website started for Independence Day: Resurgence. On the site for the film, it gives detailed information on the events between Independence Day(1996) and Independence Day: Resurgence(2016). The site goes on to show how Goldblum's character of David Levinson establishes a base on the Moon. Apart from being an active character in the Independence Day(1996) history, Goldblum's character seems to be at the center of the film, along with new addition of Liam Hemsworth as the central character of the film, opposite Goldblum. Actor, Bill Pullman is set to reprise his role as President Whitmore in Independence Day: Resurgence as well. Apart from Bill Pullman returning and an excellent cast to go with the film, there doesn't look like there's going to be much difference in terms of plot development in comparison to Independence Day(1996). The sequel appears to follow a similar sequence to the original Independence Day(1996), having the aliens attack, human beings fighting back, but the conclusion may end a bit differently than Independence Day(1996). The trailer gives an excellent preview of the new film but it may have overexposed the content in the film. The last scenes in the trailer have an alien ship crashing hard into Earth, and the size of the alien spacecraft is substantial. We can also see Goldblum's character of David Levinson and Hemsworth's character of Jake Morrison looking on as the scene unfolds. Though the most important piece of information in the trailer is the alien spacecraft crashing. Regardless of the outcome between human beings and the alien invaders, it doesn't look like there'll be a positive outcome for the rest of Earth. With that spacecraft crashing into Earth, it's not going to make a soft impact and the resulting crater is likely to cause some catastrophic damage to the planet. Which means that the Independence Day: Resurgence trailer has already shown the last sequences of the film.

Is the sequel just an reiteration of Independence Day (1996)?

Another film spoiled by overexposure of content in the trailer. Trailers are supposed to reveal a select amount of information, to get people in to the cinemas to view the films but when the trailers go about, revealing too much information which spoils the conclusion, the audience loses any sense of wonderment or surprise when viewing those films. Independence Day: Resurgence doesn't appear any different. The film is guaranteed to be an entertaining piece of work but it looks like the film will be lacking weight in terms of content if an audience is expected the film to expand upon Independence Day(1996) rather than reiterating the events of the original film.
