Did The Recent 'Justice League' International Trailer Confirm Green Lantern's Role?

With the release of Justice League heading ever closer, excitement amongst the fans is building. After the phenomenal success of Wonder Woman breathed life into the ailing DCEU, fans are eagerly anticipating the formation of DC's own superhero team. The trailers have built up the interest even more, and finally, it seems that we have a DC film to look forward to.

While we've yet to see #Superman in costume in any of the #JusticeLeague trailers, we've been given a good insight into what the film will include (with the possibility a Supergirl appearance coming into the conversation). In the latest international trailer, however, eagle-eyed fans have noticed something very familiar: references to #GreenLantern, which essentially hints at a possible cameo in the film.

Batman Interrogates A Parademon

During both Geoff Johns' run on the Justice League comic book and the animated movie based on it, Justice League: War, #Batman comes face-to-face with a Parademon. After a brief battle, the Parademon takes the Dark Knight by surprise and self-destructs. Luckily, Batman is saved by the Green Lantern on this occasion.

It seems that the Green Lantern will be absent in Justice League, so that pretty much puts an end to the parallel. However, it's Batman, so he's probably not going to get killed so easily, especially as he seems to be the key to uniting the League in the first place. There's a chance that #DC have actually managed to keep a secret and surprise us all by introducing Hal Jordan's #GreenLantern to the #DCEU. The fact that Steppenwolf states "No Lanterns" in the first trailer proves that the Corps exists within the universe, so there's still a possibility he could appear.

The Light In Alfred's Glasses Looks Familiar

The very same trailer that features Steppenwolf declaring that there are no Lanterns to defend Earth also features an intriguing moment that is worth focusing on. At the end of the trailer, a mysterious figure appears in front of Bruce Wayne's faithful butler, Alfred. It would seem this person's arrival comes at a time when the battle needs to be turned to favor the Justice League — something that this person could be capable of doing. Alfred says that he hopes the mysterious figure isn't too late to help in saving the Earth; does he mean Green Lantern?

Many initially assumed this was Superman, particularly because there does appear to be a fleck of red cape in the bottom corner of the frame. However, a closer look at the scene gave the fans another idea. If you look at Alfred's glasses, there's a reflection of a light. While it could simply be a part of the Batcave reflecting onto his glasses, the green colour of the light had many wondering if this was the arrival of the Green Lantern.

When Justice League was first announced, all of the promotional material featured the phrase "Unite the Seven," implying that seven members of the League will show up in the film. It didn't take long for this to disappear from the posters altogether, but it does seem like the Green Lantern could appear if this phrase still holds true to the film. At the minute, the official roster for the League stands at six members: Batman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Aquaman, Cyborg and Superman. Maybe, just maybe, DC will give us all a surprise and bring Green Lantern into Justice League.
