When the Future Trunks saga of Dragon Ball Super concluded and the ending left a lot of fans wondering where Dragon Ball Super would go next, some fans were actually worried that the series would go on hiatus for an extended period of time but those worries can now be put to rest with the next saga of Dragon Ball Super being confirmed by multiple sources.

A few weeks ago, rumors of leaked episode titles began popping up everywhere. While there was no basis for these rumors at the time, the leaked information pricked up the ears of fans since the episode titles made sense within the context of Dragon Ball Super. But now that Episode 69 has aired, along with the preview for Episode 70, we can confirm that the rumored episode titles are indeed true. That also means the title for Episode 71 will be the lead in episode for the next saga of Dragon Ball Super which is the "Hit Saga".

Episode 71 Starts Off the "Hit Saga" of Dragon Ball Super

According to the recently released episode titles, Episode 70 "Champa's Challenge: This Time We Fight With Baseball" will be followed up by Episode 71 "Hit Returns! Mission: Assassinate Goku"; the beginning of the "Hit Saga".

Considering that the rumored episode titles have been accurate so far, it would mean that Goku is going to die in Episode 71. Other than point, everything else is speculation. But the reason why Hit assassinates Goku is much more important than Goku simply dying. Goku has died before and can easily be brought back to life. However, his death is probably permanent for time being and most likely to become the focal point of the "Hit Saga".

Is Hit's Absence From the baseball game due to him being contracted for Goku's assassination?

Along with Hit assassinating Goku, it draws up another intriguing question, will Goku's friends know who killed him or will the next segment of Dragon Ball Super episodes be more akin to a detective series, attempting to identify Goku's killer? It's quite possible that Hit will assassinate Goku from afar and no one will know who is responsible, at first. Then there's also the matter of Hit not being seen in the preview for Episode 70.

Within the preview, we can also see that Vegeta is on Champa's team for some odd reason, probably having to do with equal number of players on each team but that brings into question why Hit wasn't recruited for Champa's team?

Hit's absence in next week's episode will probably be answered during Episode 71 when he kills Goku. For all we know, Episode 70 could depict a brief scene of Hit talking to the person responsible for placing a contract out on Goku's life.

Who will motivate 'Hit' to assassinate Goku?

Hit has no personal grudge against Goku so he wouldn't kill Goku of his own volition. The contract on Goku's life will likely be given to Hit, to which he'll accept it seeing as how he is the best assassin of Universe 6. More importantly, the person who assigns the contract on Goku's life is who we have yet to identify.

Some have guessed that Champa will retain a grudge against Goku after losing the baseball game in Episode 70. Although, it doesn't seem like Champa would go out of his way to hire an assassin to kill Goku when Champa has the power of destruction to eliminate Goku at the moment he sees fit to do so. All that means is that someone else from Universe 6 wants Goku dead and out of all the known characters from Universe 6, the only character who might have some sort of grudge against Goku is Frost but that possibility is still highly unlikely. Which means the person responsible for hiring Hit to take Goku out hasn't been introduced yet.

Manga page for "Hit Saga" adds more evidence to back up earlier claims.

Regardless of all the questions we have, only one thing is certain; the next saga of Dragon Ball Super will depict Hit assassinating Goku. Other than the episode title for Episode 71 being revealed, nothing else concrete has been revealed to provide us with more insight into the episode. However, a page from the Dragon Ball manga has shown up online as well, and the image on the page more than hints at Hit having some involvement with Goku in the following story saga.

Accounting for the episode titles being revealed early on and the manga page all but confirming where the next saga of Dragon Ball Super is going, it's pretty obvious that when Super returns from its winter hiatus, a search for Goku's killer will be conducted and whoever planned the assassination will enact whatever insidious plan they have in mind.

Now that I think about it, the person who contracted Goku's death probably did so to avoid having Goku involve himself in a plot yet to unfold. Goku has always been one for heroics so a smart antagonist who understands Goku's mindset would likely have Goku eliminated before he can create any problems for them. All the more reason to pay close attention to the person responsible for Goku's death because his death is just the beginning. Once Goku is out of the picture and unable to interfere, whoever planned his death will enact whatever they have in mind and it's almost guaranteed that it won't be good for any of the Dragon Ball universes.

Who do you think is responsible for Goku's death? Is Hit working on his own or did a yet-to-be revealed character assign Hit with a contract on Goku's life?
