(Update: Over the past few weeks, hints at Goku's new transformation have been teased as the Tournament of Power wages on. The numbers are starting to dwindle and some fighters are making temporary partnerships with unlikely allies, Hit and Goku being the most pertinent. The reason why their team-up is important is because the promo for this week's episode depicts Goku in his Red God form, side by side with Hit. This proves Goku will ascend and reach a celestial level.

Goku's Blue God form was learned and most likely given to Goku and Vegeta by Whis, whereas the Red God form is different in nature. The first time Goku reached that level, he needed five Saiyans to help him, but now it appears as though he reaches that level on his own. Unless, Goku has always had the ability to use it, simply preferring to use the Blue God form. Though, the most feasible explanation is that some particular event will set Goku off and he'll transform into the Saiyan God, but that won't be all.

In addition to the reveal of Goku's Red God form returning, he'll also achieve another transformation before the conclusion of the Tournament of Power. A promotional image depicting Goku with silver colored eyes and a strange aura recently made the rounds of every Dragon Ball related threads, leading to various guesses on what the new transformation could be. Some people are sayin Goku is going to ascend and become a celestial, others are saying he'll unlock a new transformation during an intense battle. And while both those are good guesses, a tease from earlier in the season might have already given us the answer.

If you recall, the Elder Kai of Goku's universe offered to unlock his hidden potential to allow him to reach a mystical form like Gohan before the tournament began. But without any time to finish the process, Elder Kai couldn't complete it. It seemed as if Goku would have to wait a little longer to unlock his mystic form but that doesn't appear to be the case anymore.

After looking at the image of Goku in his new transformed state, his aura is a big indication of what he's become. Gohan's mystic form shares an aura quite similar to the one Goku is shrouded in. The aura has a blend of white with blue, so it looks like a mystic aura was combined with his Blue God form, meaning this could be his Mystic form. The only question now is, how did Goku reach this new level? Did Gohan transfer his energy to him, or does someone on the tournament floor do something to accidentally unlock his potential? Or does the answer lie within the image of Hit and Goku standing side by side? Could Hit be responsible for unlocking Goku's potential? Hit himself prides himself on his ability to keep leveling up, so he could have an inert ability to unlock hidden abilities within others as well, including Goku.

Nevertheless, we'll have to wait and see how Goku's ascension goes down. My vote is for him to go celestial, that way he can just dominate the tournament and ensure his universe survives. We all know it's heading in that direction, so why not let Goku be the one who leads his team into victory.)

Characters in the Dragon Ball anime continually level up their abilities. Not only do they grow stronger, but new strength levels are usually accompanied by a slight transformation. This idea has been consistently used with Dragon Ball's mainstay character, Goku. He's progressed from the Super Saiyan transformation to a few levels beyond, and most recently developed the ability to transform into a godlike being.

Goku still isn't on par with the angels and celestials of the #DragonBall universe, but he's getting closer to the power enjoyed by a God of Destruction. Goku even gave Beerus a run for his money in the past, yet he hasn't been able to defeat a God. Of course we should be expectant of Goku reaching yet another level of power—one that may even rival a God of Destruction.

Will The Elder Kai Unlock Goku's Hidden Potential?

According to the Elder Kai, he can unlock the hidden potential in almost any fighter. Gohan was the first to undergo the procedure during Dragon Ball Z, giving him the ability to reach a level of strength beyond his Super Saiyan 2 transformation. Elder Kai broached the subject once again during Episode 92.

In Episode 92 of Dragon Ball Super, Elder Kai informed Goku that he'd be able to unlock his hidden potential as well. Unfortunately for Goku, the process to unlock his potential would require 24 hours to complete, with only 10 hours before the Tournament of Power began, making it impossible for Goku to reach his mystic transformation before the tournament commences.

While that doesn't eliminate the possibility of Goku's hidden potential being unlocked at some point in the near future, we shouldn't rule out the potential for Goku to reach a new level on his own. Some fans have even suggested that he'll reach a new level beyond his god form during the Tournament Of Power, because of an interesting image of Goku in the latest intro for Dragon Ball Super. Check out the image below.

What Could This New Transformation Be?

As you can see, Goku's aura is engulfed in red. He's had two transformations in the past which gave him a red aura but this newer one looks different. The color of his aura is the biggest indicator when Goku attains a new form, so this full red aura is a sign of a new transformation coming into play. Plus, it doesn't seem like a new transformation would be tied back to one of his old ones. Unless, Goku has managed to sustain the Kaioken transformation, without ripping his body apart.

In the Dragon Ball universe, Goku can level up from whatever form he's in with a technique known as the Kaioken. This technique increases Goku's abilities ten fold but holds a very debilitating side effect. When Goku uses the Kaioken technique, his body can only sustain the transformation for a short period of time, before his body begins to tear itself apart under the weight of the temporary transformation.

With those factors about the Kaioken being known, there's a possibility that Goku's consistent use of the technique has managed to bond his body to the transformation without negatively affecting him.

We've seen Goku retain the Super Saiyan God power after it bonded to him physically, meaning that same principle can be applicable to the Kaioken technique. And logically speaking, it's not like the Kaioken transformation carries more weight than Goku's transformation into a godlike being so it's very plausible for Goku to learn how to maintain the Kaioken transformation—without the worry of tearing himself apart when utilizing the volatile technique. Apart from Goku potentially taking the Kaioken transformation to the next level, we may have already seen Goku's next transformation in the previous saga on Dragon Ball Super.

During the Future Trunks Saga, Goku and Vegeta fought an alternate version of Goku in the future, known as Goku Black. This version of Goku was merely a body snatched version of the character but for all intents and purposes, he stood on equal ground with the Goku of Dragon Ball Super. However, Goku Black was able to transform to a level the original has yet to attain: Super Saiyan Rose.

Will The Real Goku Attain The Super Saiyan Rose Transformation?

The Super Saiyan Rose transformation was only briefly alluded to during the Future Trunks Saga and the original Goku has yet to reach that level. He's consistently increasing his power level but we haven't seen any indication of Goku reaching the Super Saiyan Rose transformation. Although, the hints at Goku reaching another level of strength during the Universal Survival Arc could give way to him reaching the Super Saiyan Rose level.

With the potential for Goku to achieve a full Kaioken transformation and / or the Super Saiyan Rose level being noted, the aforementioned transformation may wind up being a new creation altogether. For all we know, the reddish aura seen in the intros could be a sign of Goku actually becoming the Super Saiyan God he was presumed to be by Beerus during their first confrontation.

When the Super Saiyan God was mentioned by Beerus, Goku only managed to reach the godlike transformation with the help of six other Super Saiyans. So the prospect of Goku attaining that level on his own would imply he's ascended beyond just a godlike transformation into a God himself—one equal in power to Gods of Destruction like Beerus. If so, Goku's next transformation could very well be the Super Saiyan God he was presumed to be by Beerus.

We don't when Goku will reach another transformation, if he does at all. Dragon Ball Super often unleashes new developments spontaneously, so we probably won't see Goku's transformation coming. Nevertheless, the evidence points towards Goku ascending beyond his Super Saiyan God transformation in the upcoming saga of #DragonBallSuper.
