After months of back and forth through time, the Future Trunks saga of #DragonBallSuper has come to an end. The future has been restored by Omni-King Zen-Oh and Trunks has returned to his timeline before Zamasu has yet to switch bodies with Goku or used the Super Dragon Balls to grant himself an immortal body. Whis resolved the issue of Zamasu returning, by figuring out that sending Trunks to a point before Zamasu begins his destruction, Whis can send word of Zamasu to Lord Beerus and Beerus will eliminate Zamasu before he ever becomes a threat; finally putting an end to Zamasu altogether.

Now that we're moving past Zamasu and the Future Trunks Saga, the fate of Dragon Ball Super seems to be up in the air. Since the following episode will be a one-shot episode focusing on Arale.

Goku and Arale, Episode 69- Dragon Ball Super

Arale was developed as a main character in the original Dragon Ball anime but has somehow dropped off the radar since her few separate appearances. Arale's cameo in this week's episode of Dragon Ball Super will be no different than her previous appearances, in terms of how her appearance this week won't constitute any follow-up.

With Arale's episode being another one-shot episode in the Dragon Ball Super anime, it seems as if there is no definitive direction for the series but, the newly revealed episode titles for Episodes 68, 69, 70, 71 give us a good idea of where the next Dragon Ball Super saga is headed next.

The episode titles for Episodes 68 - 71 of Dragon Ball Super are as follows:

Episode 68 "Shenron Is Summoned, Whose Wish Will Be Granted?"

Episode 68 "Come Forth Shenron! Whose Wish Will Be Granted?!"

Episode 69 "Goku vs. Arale. A Battle For Earth's Fate!"

Episode 69 "Goku vs. Arale. A Battle For Earth's Fate."

Episode 70 "Champa's Challenge: Let's Play Baseball."

Episode 70 "Champa's Challenge: Let's Play Baseball."

Episode 71 "Hit Returns. Mission: Assassinate Goku."

Episode 71 "Hit Returns. Mission: Assassinate Goku."

The episode titles were released via unconfirmed sources but seeing as how the episode titles for Episodes 68 and 69 correspond with how the episodes actually played out, it's quite probable that the episode titles for Episodes 70 and 71 are also indicative of what is about to unfold on Dragon Ball Super.

Considering that these episode titles are reliable, Dragon Ball Super is returning to Universe 6 in its next major story arc. But before the Z-Fighters of Universe 7 venture into the parallel universe of Universe 6, a mysterious assassin from the opposing universe is going to be on the hunt for Goku.

Episode 71 "Hit Returns. Mission: Assassinate Goku" Breakdown.

Goku vs. Hit, Universe 6-7 Martial Arts Tournament

According to the episode title for Episode 71, Hit will attempt to assassinate Goku. Hit was one of the competitors defeated in the universal martial arts tournament waged by Beerus and Champa. Hit hasn't been seen since his defeat but his resurgence could be due to something which takes place during Episode 70.

Champa

We've already seen Champa exhibit poor sportsmanship during the onset of his defeat in the universal martial arts tournament, so it wouldn't be much of a surprise to see him overreact again. Champa was ready to destroy his own fighters for losing before he was stopped by the sudden appearance of Zen-Oh.

Omni-King Zen-Oh arrives to stop Champa's wanton destruction

It's quite possible that Champa will have a hard time dealing with defeat once again, and as a result, he'll vent his frustrations by placing a contract on Goku's life. That would call for the deadliest assassin of Universe 6 to take on said contract, and that assassin is Hit.

When we consider the possibility of Episode 71 "Hit Returns. Mission: Assassinate Goku." potentially depicting the death of Goku, the result could see another known Dragon Ball character step up to fill Goku's role as the lead. It's also within the realm of possibility that Goku won't even know he's being hunted by Hit at all. Seeing as how Hit is a master assassin, he may be capable of killing Goku from afar, leaving his friends and family in shock of Goku suddenly dying without a direct cause.

Goku dead? Dragon Ball Super.

Could Goku suddenly die after so many near-Death battles?

A mysterious death would be the ideal catalyst to spark up a new story arc for Dragon Ball Super. Finding Goku mysteriously dead would be perfect for setting up another known Z-character to take on the lead role, discovering what or who is responsible for Goku's death. And the likeliest candidate to take on that duty would be Goku's son, Gohan.

Gohan, Dragon Ball Super Episode 67 "Farewell Trunks".

It may seem out of Gohan's grasp to find Goku's murderer but knowing that an assassin has killed his father would probably change things for the young saiyan. Gohan has already altered the course of his life several times over, so it wouldn't be too surprising to see Gohan revive his Great Saiyaman persona to find Goku's killer. Then there's also the matter of Gohan deciding to train with Piccolo once again, after much time away from fighting.

Is Gohan on his way to becoming the strongest fighter of Universe 7?

Gohan asks Piccolo to train him

At the resolution of the "Resurrection of F" saga, Gohan approached Piccolo to request becoming his pupil again. Gohan had trained with Piccolo once before but put martial arts to the side for his goal of pursuing a career in education. Gohan has been preoccupied with his career to focus on martial arts training. But after gaining a new perspective, Gohan's new goal is to become stronger - in order to protect those he loves, which are his wife, Videl and their daughter, Pan.

Gohan's decision to train with Piccolo hasn't come up since he requested Piccolo become his mentor but it's possible Gohan has been training with Piccolo ever since and no one knows about it. The conclusion of the "Future Trunks" saga also seemed to hint at Gohan undergoing training with Piccolo as well

Gohan vows to become stronger.

Looking back at the final episode of the "Future Trunks" saga, when Trunks and Mai are about to head back to their respective timeline, Gohan and Piccolo arrive just as Trunks' time machine is about to depart. Gohan and Piccolo appear to be travelling together and what's of more importance here are the nods to Future Gohan in Trunks' eyes.

Future Gohan gets a nod, and the living Gohan appears to be taking on traits of his future counterpart.

Piccolo and Gohan bid Future Trunks farewell.

As Trunks departs, he sees a similar image of Future Gohan in the face of the currently living Gohan. The split image between Future Gohan and the living Gohan seems to be hinting at Gohan becoming more like his future self, which is a fighter and protector of Earth.

In the future, Gohan was forced to become a full-fledged fighter after the androids killed the rest of the Z-fighters but in the current timeline, Gohan has much more control over his destiny. He's taking a different direction in life than his future counterpart but when we account for that split image of Future Gohan in Trunks' eyes, the image could be indicative of what's to come in Gohan's future, a life of fighting.

With Goku's death becoming a good possibility, the upcoming saga on Dragon Ball Super could follow Gohan rather than Goku. Goku has been at the focal point of the past three seasons of Dragon Ball Super, Future Trunks being the exception, so it's about time someone else step up as a featured character on Dragon Ball Super and Gohan is the perfect candidate for the role.

Is Gohan going to become the next hero of 'Dragon Ball Super'?

Gohan has great potential to become one of the strongest fighters in the universe, maybe even stronger than Goku but Gohan's potential has been overshadowed by Goku's ascension to Super Saiyan 3 and now Super Saiyan Blue. However, when we consider the possibility of Gohan training with Piccolo again in the current saga of Dragon Ball Super, it's only a matter of time before Gohan outclasses Piccolo and seeks out a mentor stronger than Piccolo to surpass his current level of strength.

At that point, Gohan would be in the ideal position to surpass both Goku and Vegeta, while at the same time, becoming the strongest Z-fighter. Gohan has already set a precedent for surpassing Goku's power level during the "Cell" saga so it wouldn't come as too much of a surprise to see Gohan surpassing his father once again. Although, that draws up the question of who would be willing to train Gohan? And that answer is very simple, Whis.

SSJBlue Gohan, Dragon Ball Super.

Accounting for how Whis decided to take on both Goku and Vegeta as pupils, it's quite possible Gohan will request Whis take him on as an understudy as well. There's definitely potential in Gohan so Whis with his superior intellect would understand the benefits in training Gohan. It may be some time before Gohan and Whis begin training (if it happens at all) , but Gohan seeking out a mentor to train him is assuredly going to happen at some point and the likeliest mentor for Gohan is Whis.

What will happen in the next major story arc on 'Dragon Ball Super'?

Whis trains Goku and Vegeta, Dragon Ball Super.

Regardless of what happens to Gohan in the next major story arc to play out on Dragon Ball Super, the newly revealed episode titles for Episodes 68 - 71 appear to be leading #DragonBallSuper in a direction where the characters of Universe 6 are at the center of anime.

Champa threatens to destroy his own fighters, Dragon Ball Super.

Champa and his Universe 6 comrades haven't been seen since their defeat at the universal martial arts tournament, but their names appearing in the upcoming episode titles indicates their resurgence in the Dragon Ball Super anime.

What do you think will take place in the upcoming episodes of Dragon Ball Super? Will Goku be assassinated by Hit? Will Champa order the hit on Goku's life? Is another antagonist responsible for hiring Hit to assassinate Goku? Is Goku's life really in danger, after surviving many certain death situations?
