Hey Super Saiyan God fans!
I am yours truly, Michael AKA Mike!
Today, we are going to discuss the true meaning of a "Super Saiyan God," and how it functions. We will also learn about "stamina" and "ki manipulation," in which a Super Saiyan God represents.
So, let's break this down!
Super Saiyan Goku vs. Lord Beerus!
After the "Battle of Gods" saga in Dragon Ball Super, "Super Saiyan God" has never been seen again in the anime (until the Tournament of Power), but in the manga (a Japanese comic book/graphic novel), Super Saiyan God is very popular with both Vegeta and Goku.
So why do they do it?
Both the manga and anime have "confirmed" that "Super Saiyan Blue" is stronger than "Super Saiyan God."
So why do Goku and Vegeta keep using Super Saiyan Blue?
Well, there is actually a huge benefit to Super Saiyan God that you guys need to know about.
Let's talk about "Super Saiyan God!"
Super Saiyan God!
So in the anime, it has already been established that "Super Saiyan Blue" does not really have any negative consequences. It gives you perfect "ki control" and it does not have any ki leakage, but in the manga, Super Saiyan Blue has a "huge" downfall, in which Goku explains in Chapter 22.
Chapter 22 of Manga that reveals the pros and cons of using ki properly in Super Saiyan Blue!
Goku says, "Vegeta. He sure did his homework... Super Saiyan Blue brings out enormous power. But you can't fight in that form for long. However, the God form is well-balanced by comparison. It doesn't consume much energy either."
So already, the manga is giving Super Saiyan Blue a negative, which means that the God form actually does have ki leakage. Whereas in the anime, it does not, but then Vegeta does something very interesting in the manga that Goku explains.
Goku talks about Vegeta's fighting strategy!
Goku says, "In the very instant he throws an attack...Vegeta switches to Blue."
Goku continues to talk about Vegeta's Super Saiyan Blue usage!
Goku continues, "He's storing the power of Blue until the right time and lets it explode when he needs it."
Now you are probably wondering, if you read my previous post, the post about "Super Saiyan Blue: Fully Explained," I mentioned that one of the small downfalls of Super Saiyan Blue is yes, while you do not have any ki leakage, and you do have ki control, you actually do lose ki whenever you switch in and out to the God form.
So if you went from Super Saiyan Blue and go back to your "base form" (which is your human state), and then go back to Blue, you will end up losing a lot of ki energy, which ends up depleting your ki. So that is a downfall in the anime, but in the manga, it is also true.
However, there is more!
Goku explains his reason for switching to Blue!
The Supreme Kai says, "Is that the same thing you did back when fighting Hit?" Goku confirmed and says to him, "Yeah. But in my case, I could only go as far as making the switch once..." So indeed, the same rule applies to both manga and anime. You may be wondering, why doesn't it apply to Vegeta?
Goku explains in-depth how Vegeta maintains his stamina using Blue!
Well, Goku explains, "...While Vegeta is able to repeat it over and over again. Furthermore, his power isn't decreasing. That just shows how hard he's trained."
Now, what does that mean?
Does that mean that Vegeta is a better fighter than Goku? Or something else?
Is it a different type of transformation?
Basically, what Vegeta has in the manga that Goku does not have, it a much higher stamina.
A Side-by-side Super Saiyan Blue and God Vegeta!
The stamina is the key for why Vegeta can go on and off between Super Saiyan God and Super Saiyan Blue without decreasing his energy. So remember, the God form transformation does deplete ki in the manga, but Super Saiyan God is "balanced" and does not deplete ki. So whenever Vegeta needs to land a hard punch, he goes Super Saiyan Blue to hit Goku Black and then goes back to Super Saiyan God, so he does not waste any ki at all.
Vegeta is able to do this because of his stamina. So you are probably wondering how did Vegeta increase his stamina?
The Hyperbolic Time Chamber!
Well guys, the answer is, the room of spirit and time, the "Hyperbolic Time Chamber."
Basically, Vegeta was training there and switching off between Super Saiyan Blue and Super Saiyan God. So much so, that he trained his body to be able to handle the transformation, therefore increasing his stamina.
Goku and Gohan
Vegeta actually realized this by remembering that Goku did the same thing back when he was a Super Saiyan, training with his son, Gohan (Super Saiyan), in the room of spirit and time. Both Goku and Gohan were basically able to have a higher level of ki control, but more importantly, they were able to increase their stamina and that is exactly what Vegeta did.
Now I love this because in the anime, whenever we see Vegeta going in the "room of spirit and time," it does not really seem to do that much of a difference when compared to Goku. However, in the manga, it is a huge benefit for Vegeta doing the training that he does.
Goku explains about his depleting energy using the Mafu-Ba technique!
If you guys do not believe me, Goku actually explains this a few pages later. Goku says, "I lose quite a lot of energy using the Mafu-Ba. Going Blue right now won't work for long."
Super Saiyan God Vegeta (Manga Version)!
So yes, in the manga, Vegeta is way better, in terms of stamina when compared to Goku, and I love this!
It really puts Vegeta at a higher level of his own and yes, Goku is still above Vegeta. However, since Vegeta has the higher stamina, it is so much more convenient for him to utilize his powers and unlock his hidden potential. Now, let me also explain this.
However, in the anime, which I don't like, it does not have any negative consequences for Super Saiyan Blue. So, therefore, going Super Saiyan God does not make sense in the anime and that is the reason why we have not seen Super Saiyan God being used after "Battle of Gods" saga in Dragon Ball Super.
Super Saiyan God returned to the Tournament of Power!
When all hope seems lost, the return of the legendary Super Saiyan God appeared during the midway of the "Tournament of Power," which was where Goku helped Hit fight against two of Universe 11 fighters (one of them is Dyspo). I was excited and thrilled when Super Saiyan God Goku returned and I am looking forward to his new God form, which is called "Ultra Instinct."
That will be another topic to cover.
Super Saiyan Blue!
However, Vegeta and Goku do not have any reason to go back to Super Saiyan God because Super Saiyan Blue does have all the benefits and even more. So that is the reason.
Guys, I hope this post was able to help you understand the difference between Super Saiyan God and Super Saiyan Blue in both anime and manga.
Super Saiyan Blue Kaoiken x20!
Before I go, I want to talk about this.
What about Super Saiyan Kaoiken x20?
Well, guys, I am going to do an entire post about that because of the way Kaoiken works, when you are in your Super Saiyan Blue transformation, is different than a Super Saiyan God form. I can't wait to do a whole post on that, so stay tuned!
In the meantime, you can click on "Super Saiyan Blue: Fully Explained" and read it in its entirety.
Believe me, it is totally worth it!
That's it for this post, guys!
